"Short Films" are not widely known in the United States, they are a cinematic art form more seen in Europe. This is a pity, as we Americans are missing out on a wonderful experience. "Sentence Finale" is one of these wonderful experiences! Franck Allera is a young director who is becoming well known in France for his work in this genre, well on his way to becoming the next Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Christopher Gans, Mathieu Kassovitz. In "Sentence Finale" he has assembled together a talented cast, and smoothly blends together a Medieval and Contemporary time line telling a thought-provoking tale of morals that is still argued today with as much passion as in Medieval times. A little gem of a film, by a very talented young man who is certainly on his way to becoming one of France's great directors.
Sadly this film is an undiscovered little gem, it was not widely shown in the United States. Anyone who loves jazz, Miles Davis especially, will wish to see it. But you do not have to like jazz to like this film, nor do you have to be a fan of Australian films to like this film!
It is wonderfully done, a real shame it did not reach wider audiences. One outstanding performance - although a small one in the film - is Hans Meyer as the owner of a Paris jazz club.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing this little jewel of a film - and it is just that, a little gem! The cast act together splendidly, ensemble acting at it's finest. Hans Meyer as Mitch Glassborough takes a small supporting part and turns it into a personal "best" - he manages to steal the scene at each appearance! I highly recommend this film!
