Forget the reviews. They're mostly written by men, who don't appreciate the feminist part of this plot. They're not ready to absorb the underlying message of the work. It's the same reaction for certain revenge films written from the perspective of the female. They didn't get the recognition they deserved until they were reevaluated years later.
Yes, the sex scenes are good, and but so is the message. Surprisingly. The women are complex and not all sympathetic or caricatures. They react as humans do. Recommended. Just keep an open mind and you'll have gained a new appreciation for women's lives behind bars.

This is an effective horror film that looks cheesy on the first viewing but makes a lot more sense the second time around. The twist is effective and unexpected. If it makes little sense the first time, watch it again.
The supernatural part is unfortunate, but it is what it is. It's good that the end is not something you expect. It's not a perfect film, but for the confined setting, it offers enough.

The book is just superior, with more of the motives, transitions, dialogues, and exposition that help flesh out the story, which reminds me of another book, The White Mercedes by Philip Pullman. Both books unfold because of lies of omission and commission, of the truth untold. Of misconceptions thereof.
