This movie is very important for the Mexican film industry because it features members from three of the best all time Mexican Rock bands ever, Legendary band (and original lineup) Caifanes, Ska sensation Maldita Vecindad and the dark alternative rock band Santa Sabina (my favorite Mexican band ever who was in that year emerging from the shadows as a new hot act). The story kind of reminds me to the movie Singles (but Ciudad de Ciegos came first), because its about the relationships of young kids and it pictures the musical local scene too.
Very interesting film of the "hard" life of a spider. It has the feeling and mood of a silent movie film from the time of Chaplin. There are no dialogues which makes it very interesting because every bug the spider meets makes diferent sounds and everything is done very neatly. Wish there were more films like this nowadays. Its kind of comic but in the end there is a moral about how humans mess up the enviorment. Really good short film.
This movie is really great, when you see it for the first time you can really feel the chill of the great live performances that appear on the film. I regret that I never saw it on its original version and instead on VHS.
Also the music on the film is really great; its mostly done by Maidi Roth which is supreme musician and as you can see through out the picture see also really nows how to act! Virgine Ledoyen also has a very interesting kind of auto-destructive character with the super-seductive touch that only she can give to the performance.
And at last but not least the plot is displayed in a very innovative way that makes a lot of people, that are so deep into "the rules of making a plot", say that the director was out of his mind, but if you like movies with a different non hollywoodesque perspective about the struggle for success of a rock band then you have to watch this film!
