Like all of Bright Blue Gorilla's features, the budget is slightly north of a loaded baked potato, but it's all part of the charm. I've followed the duo for 30 years now, and their music and films won't give your surround sound an explosive workout, but they will leave you smiling. Also suggest earlier efforts like KARATE FILM CAFE, LOSE WITH ENGLISH and GO WITH LE FLO.
Karwowski's "Listopad" (screening as "November" at the 92 SFFF) was a slow journey into the mind of a disturbed woman with some beautiful scenery along the way. At the conclusion of the screening, one overly academic viewer asked a rambling question of Karwowski detailing the significance of water in the film (presumably regarding a scene in which a bathtub overflows while the central character is immersed in it and the water is still running). The charming Karwowski's answer was "I think I just liked water." The film, overall, is visually engaging enough to distract you from certain weaknesses in the tale itself, and I'm surprised that I haven't seen other works by the gifted young director.
