What is most entertaining about When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth is that like many movies, plays, and books is that you can see in them what was to come later. In When...you can see very clearly the inspirations for Quest for Fire and Clan of the Cave. Not that it is not entertaining on its own merits but seeing what was to come is a lot of fun.
The Soldier is absolutely one of this worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Just name an aspect of a movie; acting, writing, directing and it is bad. Probably the worst parts are the action; a man is hit in the chest with a half-dozen bullets from a machine gun by the hero (who is flying through the air on skis at the time, don't ask) and croaks out the complete plans of the bad guys to the hero for no particular reason. And that is not the dumbest scene by far. Only rent this if you want to laugh at a movie.
And that is not a joke. I watched this ill-conceived monstrosity twice. The first episode was about a married woman who slept with her married boss who beat her and fired her. Not surprisingly her husband found out about her affair and left her. The second episode was about a woman who was coming off an incestuous affair with her late brother by sleeping with her best friend's fiancee. And get this, it was supposed to be a comedy!!! Fortunately it only lasted a half a dozen episodes. I suppose if it had been on the air any longer we would have been treated to the lighter side of beastiality and pedophilia. Believe it or not CBS brought this show back in the spring of 2000 where it bombed just as quickly. Thank goodness.
