  • Dull dull dull

Fair play to the guy who shot Beyond Vanilla, he took a risk.

On the other hand the production is so bad, the film quality is very low, there is no script, no structure, no insight into the psyche of people interviewed and their movie for getting involved in kinky play. Some pictures are in for shock value but add nothing to the essay.

Apart from the main man showing off in a leather cap, was there any reason to shoot - and show- this movie?

  • This movie is not only about the death penalty

The movie is also about the murderer admitting to his crime - regardless of the outcome.

'Dead Man Walking' is one of my favourite movies of all time because it's beautifully shot and sensitive, and doesn't take sides at any time. It shows the pain of people who have lost their nearest and dearest, their children, and it also shows the murderer as a human being who has no choice but to live with his crime - or die with his crime - and accept it.

When you see both points of view, feel for the parents and get to know the murderer as a human being, the issue of the death penalty becomes so much more intricate than you'd think. You want revenge and you want to save the murderer at the same time.

Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon's performances are excellent, it is a pity the movie didn't get better publicity when it came out.

The soundtrack is amazing - esp if you can get hold of the real score and not the more publicly availabl/commercial version - although very good too, don't get me wrong.

Well, that's my view for what it's worth - I hope it will encourage people to see the movie or see it again!
