  • For Tom Welling

This crapfest is made almost bearable by the presence of eye candy Tom Welling, a fine actor who could make a good romantic lead. But 40' into this thing I couldn't believe there was another hour to go... what a bore! A predictable and unnecessary waste of money in the line of the recent "House of Wax" remake. To think I'll probably never make as much in my entire life as this movie cost!... If you want a good scare besides that thought, just rent "Scream", "Friday the 13th", "The Joan Rivers Show" or "Psycho." Spare yourself on this one, that's 100 minutes of your life you'll never get back. The best thing on this DVD besides the shirtless shots of Tom Welling is definitely the "Monster House" trailer!

  • A very poignant telefilm with great acting

This is possibly the best made TV movie I've ever watched... Very powerful, moving and wonderfully acted. "Our Sons" is a great tearjerker and lesson in tolerance!

Both Julie Andrews and Ann Margret bring a lot of heart and subtlety to this story, about two mothers from very different backgrounds brought together by a tragedy affecting their sons and their common difficulty facing it. Their characters offer different perspectives on a sensitive topic.

The roles of James and particularly Donald are not as strong or subtly acted, but do not hurt the quality of this film or our enjoyment watching it.

Let's hope this little known pearl will be coming to DVD soon, for all to discover and enjoy!

  • Bland though vaguely entertaining

The complexity of Jacqueline Susann's characters and subtlety of their relationships are completely lost in this syrupy TV movie, which also suffers from too many miscast parts--from a very average-looking Ann to a flat-chested Jennifer and an overly cheery Nelly.

The reasons for putting together such a project are rather mysterious, and to say it didn't age well would be finding excuses for this universally shabby and lazy movie, which can't be saved by several fine performances.

All we're left with is a cheap mini-soap brightened by a couple of good songs by lovely Lisa Hartman. Good enough if you can't fall asleep at 3 in the morning--this should do the trick. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and buy the book!
