The movie did a great job giving long time Mario fans and us nostalgic Gen xers (and all old school gaming fans) the fan service we deserve. Everything was better than anticipated and it didn't have to take two plus hours to tell a story BUT man, that Chris Pratt is still out of place and forgettable. We didn't need an Italian caricature but the decision is still baffling and definitely reduces the overall experience. I keep thinking of Pedro Pascal saying it's a-me, Mario, as a perfect example of a way to mitigate what would definitely have become grating after a while. The rest of the cast is capable, interesting, and appropriate for their character, especially Luigi, who's timid demeanor was played endearingly by Charlie Day. The kids won't care either way and will love this through and through and casual fans will also undoubtably really enjoy the film. 7.5!
I've had an IMDB account for over 20years and rarely leave a review.
I lost a parent to a murder that would remain unsolved for almost 20years and I am disgusted by being forced to see the thumbnail for this show when I want to watch a show on Peacock. I am honestly considering cancelling my subscription due to this.
There is no reason for this to exist. There is no reason to give this person a platform. There is no reason to exploit the death of a child...
Except for profit. The brutal unsolved death of a child and the subsequent miscarriage of justice, reduced to the words of the monster likely responsible for it.
So for that, 1 star. And I will cancel peacock.
For you, mom.

It's been almost 10 years since I've read the original "Odd Thomas" book, by Dean Koontz. The details are hazy, but I remember it as interesting, exciting, suspenseful, and perfectly adorable and funny (especially Odd and Stormy's relationship). I watched the "Odd Thomas" movie while home sick from work today, and I am so glad that I did. The film kept your heart rate up for almost the entire movie. The major point from the book that I remember most is the ending...and it was so perfectly captured in this film. I was so affected by it. It is always nice to see a good interpretation of a book you have enjoyed and this one (unlike some of Dean Koontz's film adaptations) hit the nail on the head. I'm so glad I took the time to see it. I'll be over here rereading the books with a big pint of ice cream...
