  • Gorgeous aesthetics, no plot resolution

The atmosphere, style, and characterization are quite striking and memorable, although some aspects of the plot are simply not credible. I was riveted to my seat by the powerful cinematography and characters. In the end I'm not sure if there is much of a governing 'vision of life' which informs the film, although such a vision might be hinted at occasionally. Not that every film must exhibit such a vision, but the result of such a meandering plotline, as we see here, is a simple yearning for resolution. So why do I give 'Voyager' a high rating? Simply because such memorable and humane images and characters are very hard to come by nowadays.

  • Stunning visuals, awe inspiring plot resolution

One of my favorite films. Great screenwriter (Sam Shepard), great director (Wim Wenders), great musician on the soundtrack (Ry Cooder). By turns a mystery, an adventure, a love story as well as one of the best renditions of the emergence of wisdom-within-relationship that I have ever seen. This film may take a bit of patience the first time one views it but, I assure you, that patience pays off. This kind of human depth is only achieved once in a blue moon in today's cultural landscape. Did I say that I recommend this movie? I think that, in particular, the combination of European and American perspectives makes for an especially fresh presentation of some classic themes.
