The only reason I gave this a 3 was purely for the acting talent of Renee Rapp, Auli'i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, Angourie Rice and Bebe Wood. The movie missed the mark with the musical numbers and there was no character development whatsoever. I almost switched the movie off after 10 minutes but persevered because I paid $5.95 for it. It's hard to believe that Tina Fey wrote this version of "Mean Girls" because it was so terrible. The original movie was thought provoking, funny and each performance was fantastic. The worst character was Karen Shetty; the original Karen was actually funny but this version was otp. Avantika did her best with the crap writing she was given to work with. I hope she gets a better movie to further showcase her talent. The romance between Cady and Aaron wasn't believable because they didn't get enough screen time. Who was robbed of screen time was Jaquel Spivey as Damian! I couldn't care less about Janis because her character was written terribly. Lizzy Caplan's version was the best because she had humour and heart. I think Renee and Angourie are so talented and hope we see more of them in the future.
If you're curious about this version of movie; I recommend watching it once because then you'll appreciate the original 2004 version more!!
