Bob & Ray, Jane, Laraine & Gilda

  • Bob, Ray and The Girls.

I probably haven't seen this since the night it was aired. i remember it as being as funny as some of the better SNLs. It was always great to see the underused SNL women used properly. Bob and Ray held up their end brilliantly, and THE GIRLS are wonderful. The real reason I'm posting a comment on this is to ask the other poster who commented on 'Bob, Ray & The Girls' what kind of maniac describes Gilda in such a manner. She was obviously head and shoulders above the other girls, and on par with Belushi, Ackroyd and Murray in comedic performing talent. I find your disrespect and non-appreciation of a Comedy Genius upsetting and disturbing.

  • For my tastes, a truly superb

and entertaining movie, though, in NO WAY do I consider this a comedy.

Excellent performances by Baldwin and Ward, but especially Jennifer Jason Leigh. If this had been recognized as a regular 'REAL' motion picture, she might have been nominated for an Oscar. Absolutely one of her best performances.

    Kudos all around.

    But this ain't no comedy.

And, on a side note, I believe Shirley Stoler was at one time an actress known as Shirley Kirkpatrick.

  • I am mesmerized by this film

First saw it on HBO (many times) about 1980. Just love the Ken Russell 'exaggerated' feel and look. Made me look into the life of Valentino, where I was disappointed to find that Ken Russell had really 'exaggerated' Rudy's life. I didn't see it again until 1998 on a trip to Canada, in a somewhat edited version. I just watched it on the True Stories channel, I fell in love with it again. Ken Russell's version of the cause of Rudy's death is much more interesting than the actual cause of Valentino's death. I taped it and expect to watch it a few more times.
