  • Well that did not work.

There are two movies going on here.

One silly action movie and one tense spy movie. It is Guy Ritche being Quentin Tarantino, and it simply does not work. You realise something is wrong in the very first scene. An armed party from german warship bords the heroes sailing yacht, yet there is no tension at all, no risk to the chatacters.

Maybe the movie would have worked if the silly action had been present in every scene. But no, there is the tense spy movie. But the tension is lacking here also. Any tension is almost instantly discarded. And the dialogue in this part is awful which distracts from the tension. So when you reach the main combat near the end of the movie you dont feel tension, and at least I was not entertained. I was bored. Maybe I would have been, had the silly action movie been the main theme throughout the movie.

Film also has what is possibly the worst depiction of Winston Churchill ever. The actor does not work in this role at all, he does not look like WC, he does not sound like WC, he does not move like WC. If you want me to suspend disbelief, do a better job.
