Escape (1990), is an enjoyable suspense movie. While the writing for this film was less than superlative, the acting was very good. As usual Kim & Kyle Richards are DDG. This is the first movie they have done together since "The Car." Filmed entirely on location in North Carolina, this movie features Kathy Richards, (Kim & Kyle's older sister), as the casting director. Watch closely for a rare screen appearance by Monty Brinson, (Kim's husband at that time). He is the mechanic at the gas station where Kin Shriner takes his bike for repairs. This film is a MUST SEE for all fans of Kim!!!
As a born-again, evangelical, fundamentalist christian, I was eager to see this movie. I'm very much into eschatology, (the study of Bible prophecy). After viewing this movie, I left the theater greatly disappointed. The acting was first class. Mr. Ironside, in particular, did a superb job! The special effects were good, with the exception of the nuclear detonation, which in reality, is nothing like what was depicted. The BIG disappointment was a failure to portray, or at least allude to "THE RAPTURE." The film also erred in depicting the death of the Antichrist as occurring halfway through the 7 year tribulation period, when the Bible clearly indicates that his demise is at the end of this period. If you want to see a movie which accurately depicts the upcoming tribulation, I recommend "YEARS OF THE BEAST," (1982), with Gary Bayer, Jerry Houser, Sarah Rush, & Alana Rader. This movie has crummy special effects, but the acting is first class! Keep watching the Eastern Sky!
I first saw Escape to Witch Mountain when it came out in 1975. Even though I was 22 at that time, I still remember the warm feelings that were in my heart when the movie was over. It made me feel like a little boy again! Over the years, I must have seen this movie at least 50 times, and I still get heart-warming feelings every time I view it. I have three children, (girls), and made sure that they saw it. They loved it! I originally went to see this movie because I was a fan of Donald Pleasence and Eddie Albert. It was'nt long before I became a fan of Ike and Kim as well. It would be terrific if Disney would do a sequel, (with Ike & Kim).
