I watched this show when I was a kid...and I loved it. I found it utterly fascinating. But this was back when there was still some mystery to the behind-the-scenes aspect of movies. Nowadays, we see this stuff on the daily news. Movies -- to me, anyway -- are about magic and mystery...and "That's Hollywood" gave us a glimpse into that exciting realm. If they sold these old shows in a tape collection, I'd buy it!
I've watched this special every year since it first aired back in 1966. It's touching, amusing and poignant. The music is a delight; and the voice of Boris Karloff is alternately charming and evil. A definite treat each and every Christmas season. Truly a classic!
"The Persuaders" is one of those rare television shows that very few people know about or talk about (because they made so few of them and they are rarely shown anywhere, especially in the United States). But this is a must-see for anyone who likes action, adventure, and comedy. Moore and Curtis are perfect and so very, very funny. And it's got one of the all-time best opening themes ever (written by the legendary John Barry). "The Persuaders" is available on video so I suggest you try to rent it. This is one heck of a great show! Don't miss it!
