More like NASA's EXPLAINED files amirite?

Most of the episodes are about cases that have been convincingly explained but the TV show pretends that they haven't for like 3/4ths of the presentation only to say "but this one has been very convincingly explained and it's not aliens lol" towards the end: it's so incredibly annoying! This has turned me away from the show more than anything else. The real "unexplained" files out of the first two seasons could've been done in like 3 episodes. I'm including there the ones they pretend that have been explained by NASA's silly handwaving away of the facts. There are some interesting cases here that I didn't know about and that's why I'm giving it six stars. However, I rather remain ignorant of the remaining "unexplained files" (like 4 more seasons) instead of subjecting myself to the annoyance that is this show for most of each episodes runtime.

I kinda like it

Coming from a chemistry graduate student, I sorta like this series. I've seen UFO "documentaries" and pseudoscientific series that I am very very quick to dismiss. This isn't necessarily one of them. YES they bring up far fetched ideas but what sets them apart from other "alien" series (Ancient Aliens, Pyramid Code...) - which are the ones that really deserve 1 star, is that NASA's Unexplained Files provides both evidence that the footage may be and also MAY NOT BE real. Most of the time, they present the footage, and then interview scientists that say it's BS! They entertain the likely possibility that it isn't aliens. Because let's be honest, science has no official evidence of extraterrestrial life. They don't say anything FOR CERTAIN (because if they did it wouldn't be science)!!!! They just present the data and kind of allow you to conclude. So everyone who's saying this series is pseudoscience....I mean, yeah kinda but it still presents the information in a rather scientific manner. To me, it's so important to present information from both sides and this series does a pretty good job with that. Overall, I like it, and I just wanted to offer a sort of rebuttal for everyone giving this series 1 star. I don't think it deserves that.

Science but not as we know it

This show examines some of the more unusual, mysterious and scary things that have happened to NASA astronauts, People videoing unusual events, strange happenings, it has it all.

The most amazing aspect of the show is that they are objective with most segments. A great bit of viewing and very well done. Nick Pope and Bill Bird all add to the show and the they also have covered some unique subjects not before seen by me and I will search high and low for the latest and do not miss much.

This is light, informative and enlightening for the UFO enthusiast, Paranormal seekers and skeptic's alike. It offer all points of view and is well researched so to not leave an impression or true or false and leaves that choice up to you. True or false isn't always easy to spot with some of the story lines. You need to watch these shows, they are excellent.

"It's Science Jim, just not as we know it." Bones from Star trek :)

What if this, what if that.... SciFi nonsense....

What a waste of time! It wants to be real science, it tries to be science fiction with some real science mixed in, but it fails completely on all counts. As the seasons progressed, the stories got more and more absurd.

Don't waste your time. If you want to watch a show covering real science rather than pseudo-science garbage, look elsewhere.

I like it

I have seen a lot of these shows and documentary's. I have to say I like where this one takes me. I like the people in it, and the evidence they bring to the table. Worth watching at least compared to other shows out right now if you like watching these shows and or are interested in this topic at all then I would say check it out. The strange thing is that it first piloted in 2012- then it was released 2 years later and then took some long breaks and is back now in 2015.I have not seen all the new episodes but I think that its cool that there is a show that covers anything on NASA 2 people I always love to see on shows like this are Richard Dolan and Nick Pope they always have interesting points and good evidence to back up what they say.

Very interesting show

Mysteries exist all over the world and I for one love them.not everything can be so easily explained by scientists.i think it's more ridiculous to believe we are the only life in the vast universe

One of the most silliest things I've ever watched

I came across this show on the science channel they started showing it before how the universe works and so I thought ok, it's a show about nasa or so I thought..this show is as silly as the history channel at 3 am. It's not legitimate stuff it's just speculation instead of actual phenomena spotted. This is a silly show and I wouldn't recommend taking it seriously.

Absurd Sensationalized Pseudo-Science. Garbage. Avoid if you have any self respect

This is not a science program. It is a wildly sensationalized pile of hysterical garbage. It is however, instructive in exactly one way: It does demonstrate how many supposedly credible scientists will whore themselves for TV exposure.

In this program, pretty much everything in the universe is about to destroy the earth any second or is evidence of alien invasion. It twists actual science into tabloid TV in the worst possible way. Shame on the producers.

If you like science and have any self respect, avoid this stinking pile of poop.

Hokey, sensationalized, over dramatic but does present some interesting incidents

Thought I'd revisit as there wa a series I hadn't seen yet on tv. Bad decision. This show is the Kardashian of "science". No explanations still. Over the top hype still. A rubbish show not worth looking at under any circumstances. Old osted review follows. While this show seems to present some facts it is so hyped and sensationalized that it often comes across as hokey. While I love science, especially relating to space, and being entertained, I don't like being talked down to and treated like an idiot. Way over dramatic, sensationalized editing and presentation. Not a good advertisement for astronomy. Presenting the facts in an interesting and factual manner doesn't mean the show will be boring an uninteresting. Virtually every segment I have seen features a breathless announcer and/ or commentator saying, in carefully cut and edited dialogue, what seems to be an announcement that someone has died, aliens have been discovered and hidden or there has been a disaster of some kind. NOT ONCE has this related to the actual outcome. And "files"? I think not.

Science channel has a lot of good shows, and this is def one.

The Science Channel has a lot of good shows following similar formats lately (at least in my mind), and all are pretty good, but this one is one of the better ones.

I thought I liked What on Earth better, but this is definitely better after seeing both of them.

Deadly Intelligence and Outlaw Tech (both Science Channel) are my favorites, but I'd say this takes third place.

This is probably my favorite show on the Science Channel.

Mike Baker and Patricia Driscoll are probably my two favorite cast members (they're also in What on Earth?), but they have a lot of good people.

False explanations

Some of these so called explanations are obviously directed by nasa. Especially season 1 episode 6. How they can say a picture that shows a cylindrical object above the moon is a hammer thrown by an astronaut is absurd. The "conversation" they show between the astronauts is obviously staged. You can tell by the clarity of the camera work. On the moon's surface the video is a bit fuzzy but the conversation about throwing the hammer is clear. Come on nasa...how stupid do you think people are? These nasa explanations have turned me away from the show.

A slap in the face for real science.

Spectacular, mind boggling, intriguing, interesting, explaining, truth, revealing...

None of the above!!!

I believe that there is more than just humans.

But this show grabs story's right out of its black hole.

Fantasy galore.

Annoying nick pope

I would give this program a couple of more stars if it was not for one big-nosed, wittering thing... nick pope. The former tea-boy at the MOD, who managed to somehow work himself up to being in charge of cleaning out the bathrooms, makes me so angry when his blithering, slurring face suddenly pops up without warning. If there was a warning before his face popped up, it would be fine.

Nothing in this show is unexplained!

Every story is explained an very undramatic, since logic explains everything. It is BS! Only real unexplained mystery here is why the show has the "unexplained" in its title. Now that's a true mystery.

There is a Metaphor in there.

I'm going to summarize the entirety of this show in under 3 sentences.

Hi here is something that seems odd, right? We will speculate wildly, and I do mean wildly to draw in your genuine inquisitive nature. Guess what though, after speculating wildly for 2 minutes we will rationally explain what we just speculated wildly about in under 20 seconds.

Crazy right? Like sex with someone who's never done it right before. It will be a lot of random poking and prodding, filled with hope and then go out abruptly.

We could have made a series about soundly educating you on scientific theories, about the oddities of space and new theories of astrophysicists based in facts and rational thought processes but instead we made a slap stick show to tease you and fill time between ads for Doritos and compression shocks. I mean there was a whole ten minutes dedicated to floating space junk! SMH. Just Disappointing.

Turning off the sound is the only tolerable way to watch

Even with the sound turned off, using only captions, it's still the most overacted, melodramatic pile of space poop. Incidents that could be presented in 5 minutes are overblown and hysterically beaten to death. I kept watching just to look for the tiny bits of actual information buried in the eyebrow waggling, faux astonishment of the alleged scientists.

I think the biggest source of anazement of all this is that the talking heads involved allowed themselves to be presented in such a ludicrous light. They all come off as tinfoil hat wearing clowns. How is it NASA hasn't sued the pants off the producers of this farce is beyond me.
