Listen, Aldis Hodge isn’t new to this thing called acting, he’s true to it. He’s literally been on screen since he was 7 years old, when he made his film debut alongside his brother Edwin Hodge in “Die Hard With a Vengeance” in 1995. Aldis Hodge is coming to TV screens as Alex Cross, and he’s ready to crack any case.

It’s the first time ever that fans get to see the iconic character from James Patterson’s popular book series come to life on television. However, in this TV adaptation, he takes on a whole new set adventures that have never been told between the pages.

Writer and producer Ben Watkins crafted this new vision of “Cross,” which takes place in the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C., where criminals lurk during the day and the night. But no crime is too big of challenge for Cross.

Some supporting cast members include Stacie Greenwell, Sharon Taylor, Mercedes de la Zerda. Dwain Murphy, Karen Robinson, Jason Rogel, Siobhan Murphy and more. But check out the main case below.

Tom Shadyac, the director whose comedy film resumé includes Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Nutty Professor, Liar, Liar and Bruce Almighty, has decided it’s time to sell a 2,417-square-foot chicly modernized Spanish-style home he owns that’s located just above the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. He’s listing it for $2.75 million.

Shadyac, whose most recent film was the 2018 drama Brian Banks starring Aldis Hodge and Greg Kinnear, bought the four-bedroom, four-bath house in 2020 from Aaron Paul. According to Dirt.com, the house years ago was also once occupied by Brad Pitt. Paul paid about $1.4 million for the house in 2012, which is located on a quiet cul-de-sac not far from Chateau Marmont, and sold it eight years later to Shadyac for $2.2 million.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 344 feature films are eligible for the 2019 Academy Awards.

To be eligible for the consideration, the films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by Dec. 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days. Academy rules also state that a feature-length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and must have been exhibited theatrically on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format.

Nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards will be announced on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020. The ceremony takes place on Sunday, Feb. 9, airing live from Hollywood on ABC.

It wasn't as close a race at the top of the weekend box office as we thought it might be heading into the weekend as Universal's Hobbs & Shaw held on much better than expected and easily retained the #1 spot for a second week in a row. As for the weekend's crowd of six new wide releases, CBS Films, eOne and Lionsgate's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark led the way with nearly $21 million, followed by a decent performance from Paramount's Dora and the Lost City of Gold while Fathom and Trafalgar's release of Bring the Soul: The Movie appears to have eked its way into the top ten. Leading the weekend was Hobbs & Shaw for the second weekend in a row. The film held on quite well in its second weekend, dipping just -51% for an estimated $25.4 million sophomore frame and a domestic cume that now stands at $108.5 million.

After the last three weekends featured just one new wide release hitting theaters, this weekend is delivering a whopping five new wide releases, which will debut in over 13,500 locations. Among them, Paramount's Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Lionsgate's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark look to be the top performers of the lot, and in that mix Disney's The Lion King will join the fray along with Hobbs & Shaw in a battle for the weekend's #1 spot. Otherwise, Fox's The Art of Racing in the Rain, WB and New Line's The Kitchen and Bleecker's Brian Banks are the three other new wide releases hitting theaters this weekend. Call it an end of summer box office dump, but busy movie theater marquees are about to get even more crowded.

That’s because five films — Disney-Fox’s tear-jerker “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” Warner Bros. and New Line’s heist thriller “The Kitchen,” Paramount’s kiddy pic “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” Lionsgate, CBS Films and eOne’s adaptation of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” and Bleecker Street’s sports drama “Brian Banks” — will be opening nationwide this weekend. The newcomers won’t just be competing against each other, they will also be contending with holdovers including Universal’s “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” Disney’s “The Lion King” and Sony and Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

Overall the weekend showed improvement over the same weekend last year for the third straight week in a row and on top of Hobbs & Shaw, continued strong performances from The Lion King, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the platform release of A24's The Farewell helped what has been a bit of a late summer surge at the domestic box office. Universal's Hobbs & Shaw debuted in 4,253 theaters this weekend (the second widest release in the Fast & Furious franchise) with an estimated $60.8 million, which is right in line with the studio's pre-weekend expectations. The $200 million production also received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences and currently holds a strong, 90% audience score on RottenTomatoes. The story told in Brian Banks is unfortunately all too familiar. The eponymous biopic, directed by Tom Shadyac, chronicles the true story of the All-American football player who had committed to USC by his junior year, then had his life upended when he was falsely accused and convicted of rape, to being exonerated, and finally reaching his goal of playing in the NFL.

Throughout his 10-years in the prison system, a sentence he received despite the lack of evidence to support the accusation, Banks never wavered in maintaining his innocence. Ultimately, with the help of Justin Brooks and the California Innocence Project, Banks’ conviction was overturned in 2012, his name was cleared, and he was finally free to pursue his NFL dreams.

Tiffany Dupont has joined the cast of Brian Banks, the drama recounting the true story of the wrongful imprisonment and exoneration of the one-time high school football prodigy.

Tom Shadyac is directing the feature, making it his first directorial project since 2003’s Bruce Almighty and 2007’s Evan Almighty. Aldis Hodge and Greg Kinnear are also among the cast, and Doug Atchison wrote the script. The project was originally incubated through Amy Baer’s development fund Gidden Media, and Baer will produce alongside ShivHans Pictures’ Shivani Rawat and Monica Levinson. Director Lee Daniels, who first made a name for himself with the 2009 drama Precious followed by the hit Oscar-nominated biopic The Butler, is set to take on his first horror movie with the true-life inspired Demon House.

Relativity is behind this story that still continues to this day, centering on demonic possession. Latoya Ammons and her family claim to be victims of the supernatural, succumbing to evil forces while living in their Gary Indiana home.

Relativity is financing the project, and will produce and distribute the thriller. Jackson Nguyen and Todd Crites of Turn Left Productions are producing alongside Bruce Cohen. Richard Potter will oversee the film on for Relativity.

Lee Daniels is currently serving as an executive producer on Fox's upcoming hip-hop inspired drama Empire. He also has the upcoming films Iced and The Brian Banks Story on his slate.

A biopic of legendary comedian Richard Pryor has been in the works for years now, but it appears that the film is finally coming to fruition. We learned earlier this year that Precious and The Butler director Lee Daniels was signing on to helm the biopic, as contenders for the role of Pryor emerged. Actors like Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock had all vied for the part at one point or another in previous iterations of the project, and Daniels’ iteration was reported to have Murphy, Marlon Wayans, and Michael B. Jordan circling the role. But over all the iterations, one name had regularly surfaced as a standout: Mike Epps. Apparently his screen test for a previous version of the film blew people away, and last night on Twitter Daniels and Epps confirmed that the Hangover and Next Friday actor will indeed be playing Richard Pryor in this new biopic.

American entrepreneur Damon Dash has lodged a summons at New York Supreme Court, asserting that he is owed money by The Butler director Lee Daniels.

Dash, who co-founded Roc-a-Fella Records with Jay Z, claims that he has unfulfilled written and oral agreements in relation to various of Daniels' film and television projects, such as The Woodsman, Precious, The Paperboy and The Butler.

The summons states that the entrepreneur is due compensation, producer credits and ownership rights.

Daniels must now respond to the summons in court, or risk Dash seeking a default judgment of $25 million and producer credits on Daniels' projects.

It was announced earlier this month that Daniels has signed on to direct The Brian Banks Story, about a high school American football champion who was convicted of rape.

President Barack Obama previously revealed that he "teared up" when he watched Lee Daniels' The Butler.
