In a recent interview with People, the veteran TV writer-producer said he is “hopeful” about Season 3, which would come more than six years after the conclusion of the sophomore installment.

“We’re hoping it happens,” the show creator, who recently accepted the Visionary Award at the Gotham TV Awards, said. “We had a great time doing the first two seasons and we all want to do it again. I’m hopeful it’ll happen.”

After delighting audiences with her performance as Greer Garrison Winbury in The Perfect Couple, the acclaimed actress will be seen in Girls and Their Horses — a thrilling Prime Video television adaptation based on a novel written by Eliza Jane Brazier. The premise of the book is set in the competitive world of showjumping, where an ambitious family will be quickly immersed in the trade of the sport. Unfortunately for everyone involved, controversy and even an unexpected death with enter the picture, sending the Parker family into a desperate quest to find out the truth.

Eliza Jane Brazier, who wrote the book that will inspire the Girls and Their Horses series, will write the pilot of the adaptation. The author has also been recruited as an executive producer for the project. Jenna Lamia has been recruited by Prime Video to work as the showrunner of the series.

In accepting the Visionary Tribute at the 2025 Gotham TV Awards, acclaimed and prolific TV series writer-producer David E. Kelley rallied his fellow creators, urging them to stay true to who they are even if that goes against corporate mandates.

“Every day when I wake up and get to do this job, I know how lucky I am, and all of us are lucky to do what we do,” he said, noting how it feels to be part of the creative community at gatherings like The Gothams.

Which is “perhaps why I’m a little disappointed with some of the compromises and capitulations being taken by some of our corporate industry partners,” he said to a big applause.

David E. Kelley is set to receive the Visionary Tribute at the 2025 Gotham TV Awards, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Kelley is being recognized for his work as showrunner on Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent TV series, the first season of which starred Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as his long Emmy-winning career, including his work on such memorable series as L.A. While Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers” used Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name as the backbone of the Nicole Kidman-led series, Season 2 prompted the team — led by creator David E. Kelley — to go off-book as they crafted the second act of Nicole Kidman’s Masha Dmitrichenko.

Moriarty, who did not write a follow-up book to “Nine Perfect Strangers,” gave the team her blessing for a second installment of the series, which was renewed by Hulu for a Season 2 in June 2023, well after Season 1 first premiered in 2021. And since “Nine Perfect Strangers” first premiered nearly four years ago, EP Bruna Papandrea noted psilocybin (a.k.a. magic mushrooms) have been embraced tenfold, opening the door for countless stories unlocking past traumas.

“There’s no underlying material at all, no ongoing story,” Papandrea told TheWrap, noting that Season 2 picks up with Masha’s past controversies having been written about and publicized heavily.

The signing marks a reunion of sorts for the Gersh-repped Dungey and manager Paul Rosicker of Quest. Dungey has been with Gersh for over two decades, while Rosicker was a TV talent agent at Gersh for 30+ years before launching Quest with partner Brian Ferrantino last year.

Recently, Dungey has been seen in a series regular role opposite Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear on Starz’s Shining Vale. She’s also recurred on CBS’s S.W.At., Bob’s Burgers for Fox, The Lincoln Lawyer at Netflix, and HBO’s Emmy winner Big Little Lies.

The result was a story that wandered aimlessly from character to character, plot point to plot point, and episode to episode, with no real purpose other than to showcase bizarre, head-scratching connections that felt more contrived than authentic.
