50/50

A rather convoluted plot with a deadly sect. It is worth watching carefully so as not to miss the thread of the story, because then it will be difficult to understand everything.

What can I say about my own impressions? This is definitely a one time movie. I did not understand many points. The ending was disappointing, which confused everything even more.

P. S. While watching, I thought about the art department. How the boys struggled with moving props.

Horrendous

This movie is so bad that it becomes somewhat funny. The abysmal script accompanied by horrible acting and horrendous camera work are the only "enjoyable" parts of this film.

A truly brilliant and scary film

The movie was great. It's one of those movies that does a good job on actually creeping you out. it's just genuine, classic horror films The thrilling sensation of the acting, cinematography and music is just amazing. 10/10

Utterly bad movie

This film is a failure, a non intentional comedy, a catastrophic attempt. Indescribably badly written script, followed by horrible acting make this film somewhat "watchable".

Pretentious Crap

Pretentious uninteresting crap that tries to be something like a David Lynch movie. A good start, but once the father and daughter are caught this movie just turns out to be a very boring trip.

ANY rating/ review higher than a 3 is paid for!

I really don't want to give this movie any more of my time than i already have - it is one of the worst movies i have seen in the past ten years! 2020 does it again!! I AM ONLY HERE TO STOP YOU FROM WATCHING THIS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE MOVIE... trust me, every aspect of this movie is horrible; acting (especially the acting!), the script, the story, the camera work... just the EVERYTHING!!! You're Welcome!!

Creative scenario

I think this film is another kind of dogma and cult, quite difficult to understand but very depicting that man actually has a veil of fake happiness and it is depicted in the form of a mannequin.

Oops. I liked it

This isn't the best "cult in the middle of nowhere woods" movie that I've seen. But it's watchable. It has some random gore scenes. Heck, the creepy mannequins make it all worth while to me. Reviews are bashing the acting. If you consider this film some of the worst acting you've ever seen, consider yourself lucky.

Should this "film" be viewed while in an altered state?

Holy cannoli this movie stanks!!!! The other reviewers praising its depth and meaning behind the meaning must be smoking the devils lettuce!

The acting by the mannequins is far superior to the living cast. The women have two emotions, serene, vapid, hippie chicks, and murderous coven witches. The guys are flat and one dimensional.

The plot.....um, what plot? There's running, dancing, talking gibberish and lots of spinning of a lazy Susan. I guess that's supposed to be symbolic? A little pretentious and heavy handed, no? Jeez, this movie was bad. I'm thinking it was just a vanity project for this group of pals who happen to be dating some attractive women. Also, there's some bad music. Like, my friend's sister's fiancé is in a great indie band, bad. Bad.

I'm trapped at home due to a natural disaster and this was free on Tubi. I'm thinking this movie is a bigger disaster.

These Other Reviews Are Wrong!

This movie is getting low ratings because people don't understand it. The concept in the movie is mind boggling, and truthfully, the person who came up with this plot idea should be celebrated, not shunned.

It loses 2 stars because there is some bad acting, truly, but to be honest, it kind of goes along with the creativity of the whacked out plot.

Give it a try...but unless you're excited by figuring out different levels of reality, it may just confuse you. Otherwise, enjoy.

Unexpected

Reading the reviews for this movie remind me of why I hate people :) I found it (obviously an independent movie) but interesting and had some twists.

Don't be expecting answers

This film falls into the genre of alternate realities or multiple dimensions. Starting within the boundaries of a cult, the film progresses into the "real" and the "unreal" as well as a space in between those. What follows is a contemplation of what is real, what is life and death, but on a basic level. This is a borderline horror thriller, and processes this material only at that basic level. Production is quasi-okay, acting decent, and story "okay". I enjoyed the film, but I also recognize that it isn't amazing or spectacular. But for what it is, its decent.

Enjoyable and mysterious if somewhat flawed genre effort

Surviving a harrowing camping trip, a father and his daughter are taken in by a strange cult-like group and offer to take them in until they heal, but the more they stay there the more they come to believe something is wrong with the group and are forced to rely on a former cult member searching for a missing person to get them out.

This was quite a fun and creepy genre effort. One of its strongest aspects is the engrossing slow-burn build-up that offers quite a lot to like in regards to the activities conducted by the group and their true intentions. Taking the stereotypical route of the smiling, friendly-faced attractive group of overly sweet people, caring and nurturing that belie a hint of sinisterness behind their facade, the easy assumption of this potentially being an overly-friendly group of people with their actions is quite nice as the daughter is so easily swayed to stay so quickly that he begins to fear for her safety. That becomes quite sinister with their intentions and the ultimate reveal of what's going on at the compound with the multi-dimensional travel and over-the-top hallucinations they can bring about on other victims. This fantastic build-up manages to make the rest of the film quite creepy and chilling as the series of hauntings and hallucinations become quite frightening and threatening. The attempts to bring the father into the cult manage to come off incredibly well, from the circular nightmare-inducing argument he has with the leader to the chasing around the woods by the other members trying to kill him. This brings out the enjoyable nature of their sinister plans as the series of mind-games that are played with not only those two but the later group searching for the missing woman in the cult which has a lot to like with the craziness of the situation getting progressively wilder as time goes on including the rather clever manner in which they bring everything down at the end. These here manage to give this enough to like that it holds up over its problematic areas. There are some big issues with the film. The most obvious one is the complete lack of anything really resembling action throughout here, as the vast majority of the build-up is based around the metaphorical traps from the group towards the two. Trying to make sense of the various antics and the constant use of mannequins around the woods even for those who aren't a part of the group is where the focus lies, taking more of a science-fiction route rather than a more overt horror route. For those expecting weird rituals and other typical cult-like behavior, this series of alternate reality talk and mind-trip sequences will be a turn-off and make it seem duller than it really is especially with the overlong running time which is the other issue here. This runs a bit longer than it should for what it's trying to accomplish, going at a slightly slower tempo and running in circles repeating things that don't need to be said which all hold this back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Violence and children-in-jeopardy.

The type of movie that you end up referencing later

There are some movies that you end up recalling later in life, or finding playing in a hotel room and you order room service because you've fallen back into it.

I think the days of rushing to see a horror film are gone for me and, reading the other reviews, you see how others have misunderstood or were impatient for what they'd want the film to be.

I'm happy that the writer was able to do something outside of Disney. That stuff is good. This is an exercise in making story without those resources. If it's a horror film in this era, you have to be in the mindset of "enjoy from the start and let the story reinforce that dream."

Requires thought

This is not purely horror. It is more psychological thriller combined with sci fi. It requires an active brain and attention, something several reviewers seem to lack. It is far from perfect, but it is worth a watch if you want to think a little and not be spoon fed.

Good watch

Most of the filth that rated this movie poorly are simply melting in their arm chairs eating sausages and getting fatter rather than actually contributing to life's wanders like this film delivers.

Just give it a try

A movie where you head is spinning with all the metaphores and what is real and what is fake. The whole movie is build around a "circle" and since we as human never can imagine that a circle doesnt have a begin or an end, the movie is also really hard to figure out.

The acting wasn' that bad, ive seen alot worse

Altough i love movies where the plot is really hard to understand and needs alot of thinking, but the whole plot is just not understandable. But maybe thats what they Wanted to do. I dont know. For me it was too much and they tried too hard to completly mess with your brain.

My head hurts after this movie, but overall it was quite enjoyable. Gave me a little midsommar vibes.

Not The Path

There is a series titled The Path. I thought this would be similar. It is not. It is much much much crazier.

There was barely any thrill; yet, I was pleasantly intrigued the entire film.
