Trim Season
Production designer Ariel Vida's sophomore directorial feature, Trim Season, follows a group of young people who isolate themselves on a secluded farm in Northern California, making easy money trimming marijuana. When Emma (Bethlehem Million), Julia (Alex Essoe), and Dusty (Bex Taylor-Klaus), begin to suspect the farm and its matriarch Mona (Jane Badler) are shrouded in dark practices, they realise they might not escape with their lives.
When I connected with Essoe virtually, she was full of enthusiastic energy. The Canadian actress has long been a personal favourite genre performer after first seeing her in Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s Starry Eyes. The visceral character she played in Marcus Dunstan's The Neighbour, opposite Josh Stewart, remains one of her most seductive and captivating performances. Together they show her emotional range, moving effortlessly between vulnerability and a cold, distant and rawer presence, that she has built upon throughout her career,...

Find out where you can watch Poor Devil, the new adult animated program that follows a teenager who finds himself at a crossroads, choosing to follow in the footsteps of his dad, the devil, or forging his own path as a Broadway star.
For some teenagers, it can feel like parental figures are the devil in human form. When all you want to do is be on your own with no rules, parents become enemy number one. Upon growing up and out of the teenage phase, it usually becomes clear, though, that, no, your parents were not Satan.
Except in the case of Stan. Stan is the main character on the adult animated show Poor Devil. He is your average 18-year-old, except for one key differentiator. His dad is the devil. Yes, you read that correctly. Stan’s father is the Satan. And he has high expectations of his son.

Showtime and Paramount Home Entertainment have acquired the U.S. rights to director Tarik Saleh’s thriller “The Contractor” — and released the first trailer for a film that reteams Chris Pine and Ben Foster from Taylor Sheridan’s “Hell or High Water.”
As with the recent acquisition of “Queenpins,” which was also sold by the financially troubled indie studio STXfilms, “The Contractor” will get a limited theatrical release from Paramount on April 1 along with a simultaneous release on premium video-on-demand platforms. The film will also stream on Showtime and Paramount+ later this year.
Pine stars as as Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself caught in a...

At one of its increasingly regular presentations, on Thursday Netflix Spain unveiled seven new projects including “If Only,” a Spanish adaptation of the Netflix Turkish original canceled before shooting by Turkish authorities.
Where once Netflix would host its presentations early in the year and announce its ambitions for the next 12 months, the platform’s original Spanish programming pipeline has grown to an extent that Thursday’s showcase only covers the next few months and hinted at plenty more to come in late 2021.
In both level and volume of production, the day’s announcements confirm Netflix as one of if not the, foremost investors in original Spanish series and movies, at the same as its talent pool is expanding to include ever more of the principal producers in Spain. New Netflix originals are now being produced by now-regular partners Nostromo, producers of “The Minions of Midas”; “Élite” producers Zeta Studios; “Money Heist...

We have a brand new trailer for Into the Ashes. In any given year, a number of movies will slip through the cracks for may viewers, simply because there is so much stuff being released on a variety of platforms. It's impossible to keep up, especially during the very crowded summer movie season. This movie runs the risk of succumbing to such a fate, but based on this first trailer, maybe it shouldn't. Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) leads the way in what looks like it very well could be an under the radar action/thriller to keep an eye on.
The trailer kicks off with a lot of ominous and clearly vengeful voiceover that leads to a tense confrontation between two men whose beef will be at the center of this tale. There is some action to behold, but the footage goes a little light on the guns and body count.

"A man can only see so much darkness before he goes blind..." Rlje Films has released an official trailer for an indie crime thriller titled Into The Ashes, the latest from filmmaker Aaron Harvey. Described as reminiscent of "hard-boiled action/thrillers from the '70s/'80s", Into The Ashes is about an ex-con trying to settle down in rural Alabama who believes he has escaped his violent past, only to find his old crew hasn’t forgotten about him or the money he stole. And they don't want to let him get away. Sounds a lot like every other gritty rural crime thriller, and it looks like every other one, too. Starring Luke Grimes as Nick, along with Frank Grillo, Marguerite Moreau, Robert Taylor, James Badge Dale, Brady Smith, Andrea Frankle, Rob Mello, Scott Peat, David Maldonado, David Cade, and Jeff Pope. The best part of this is Grillo...

Hey, look! Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum actually co-stars in a new movie coming out with William Fichtner (Elysium, 12 Strong) called The Neighbor. This actually looks like a decent thriller that would be worth checking out... if this trailer didn't basically tell us the whole damn story!
The story follows a "middle-aged man (Fichtner) in a stagnant marriage becomes voyeuristically obsessed with an attractive young woman (Jessica McNamee) when she and her seemingly abusive husband (Rosenbaum) move in next door."
If you're a fan of either of these actors, maybe you'll want to check this out. Who knows, maybe there's some kind of twist in the story that isn't in this trailer. The Neighbor was directed by Aaron Harvey (Catch .44) and it's set to be released in theaters and on VOD on January 26th, 2018.
Have you ever had any experiences with crazy or creepy neighbors? I have!
