When the military suggests nuking an alien vessel in order to destroy it, several characters state that a similar plan didn't work in Independence Day. In that movie, attempts to nuke an alien destroyer above Houston, Texas, fail.
When Woody (played by Gavin Free, who also stars in and produces The Slow Mo Guys) is scrolling through some of the functions on the power suit's helmet, one of the visor options displayed is "Slow Mo".
Several references are made to RWBY, also created by Rooster Teeth. In one scene, Mindy has a RWBY decal on her laptop. The voice actresses for the primary cast of RWBY: Lindsay Jones (Ruby Rose), Kara Eberle (Weiss Schnee), Arryn Zech (Blake Belladonna) and Barbara Dunkelman (Yang Xiao Long) all appear as cheerleaders.
