Terrence Howard and RJ Mitte in Triumph (2021)

Forced Sentimentality

A well intentioned movie that suffers from schmaltzy dialogue, heavy handed directing and an uneven pace. The main character faces all the typical obstacles one would expect from someone with cerebral palsy: an overprotective parent, high school bullies, dismissive teachers, etc. All of which are met with cliche ridden platitudes spewing forth from the protagonist. The first rule in movie making is show, don't tell. Triumph misses the mark here.

Decent performance by Terence Howard. Most everyone else is mailing it in for a paycheck. I think most of the movie budget went to song licensing for the soundtrack. Take a pass on this one as there are far better inspirational stories.

the act wasn't good

No one in the show had a perfect performance, and I don't understand why Terrance Howard is feeling emotional when he was talking to mike's father and cried. The father who is supposed to get emotional not the coach that was funny actually. I only liked the movie because it was inspired by a real story, everything else is terrible.

Atypical

Terrance Howard again a stand up / handsome / Inspiring figure. RJ again same person in breaking bad. Story again an incomplete life become completed after different encounters. Everything did right for their part but just soooo typical and same as before..... I love Terrance so rate a bit higher.

Cried a little bit!!

Terrance Howard gave phenomenal performance when it came to assisting this gentleman as his coach, I tip my hat off to the young warrior who persevered despite his troubles deserves a real decent score.

Great Family Movie

Enjoyed watching this movie together with family on Easter - always good to learn about other journeys in left. I think the title was perfect, it was easy to root for Mike. His character was smart, funny, and tough.

I think the actor who played Michael seemed to represent a person with cerebral palsy very true to life.

I liked that it was set in the 80's - the music in the movie was fun. Of course, I certainly hope that the outright bullying that was shown in the movie wouldn't find a place in schools or on teams today.

Stay tuned for the photos at the end, they were a nice touch (Rock Chalk!).

Bravo!

Painfully Cringy

This is a painful attempt at a feel good movie, with corny lines, ridiculous scenes and pathetic script writing. I cannot even begin to explain how I wish I could have my time back. Not to mention how the slow motion end scenes that are stretched out with one liners in between make you want to gouge your eyes out and drag them through boiling nails in hope of relief! Oh my granny! Is there not an option to give it less that one! I'd rather go blind than watch that again.
