What Prompted Joaquin Phoenix To Demand A Last-Minute Exit From Napoleon?
Image
Did Joaquin Phoenix threated to quit Napolean? (Photo Credit – Facebook)

Yes, Joaquin Phoenix was ready to walk away from Napolean, even with cameras ready to roll. His demand? A script rewrite by none other than The Master’s director, Paul Thomas Anderson.

The shocking ultimatum had Hollywood buzzing. According to reports, Phoenix wasn’t sold on the script by David Scarpa, despite the star power of Scott helming the film. Enter Anderson, who stepped in, smoothing things over with revisions that ultimately kept Phoenix in the titular role. With the rewrite complete, Napoleon hit theaters in late 2023, grossing $221 million globally and nabbing Oscar nods in technical categories.

Ridley Scott, speaking about the drama, seemed unbothered in retrospect. “Tommy was doing Licorice Pizza, advising me how to do Napoleon,” he said in a New York Times interview. “It turned into a lot of fun, actually. Three of us in this room screaming with laughter.

Abhishek Kapoor
Akshay Oberoi learns Haryanvi for Gurgaon
Abhishek Kapoor
After Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor, a special appearance with Deepika Padukone in Piku and Indo- Brit film Bombairiya, Akshay Oberoi, who made his debut with Pizza 3D, is now starting his shoot for Jar Entertainment and Mukesh Chhabra's Gurgaon. Interestingly, Akshay will be seen in a totally new avatar in Gurgaon, as he plays a local Haryanvi boy living in city. And since his character has a very rustic look and feel to it, he's been asked to learn the local language by director Shanker Raman (national award winning cinematographer). In fact Akshay has been training to learn Haryanvi language/diction by a local Haryanvi tutor and has been watching few famous Haryanvi movies to get the accent and nuances correct. If that wasn't enough, the actor even breaks into Haryanvi at times while talking to his friends and family to practice the language perfectly. Akshay is in Gurgaon...

Akshay Oberoi signs up for Gurgaon
2015 is proving to be more and more lucky for Akshay Oberoi… After Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor, Indo-Brit film Bombairiya and bagging a special appearance with Deepika in Piku, Akshay Oberoi has been signed for yet another interesting film called Gurgaon as the lead.

Gurgaon, directed by national award winning cinematographer Shanker Raman is co produced by Ajay G Rai and Alan McAlex of Jar films and Mukesh Chhabra. Jar also produced India’s official entry to Oscars – Liar’s Dice starring Nawazuddin and Mukesh Chhabra. Interestingly, while Akshay was shooting for Fitoor in Kashmir, Ajay Rai, who is the line producer on Fitoor liked his work and recommended his name to the director of the film. Shanker saw few scenes from Akshay’s film Pizza and the public service ad he had done and liked him instantly.

Akshay will be seen a totally new look and role in the film.

Pizza Movie Review
People say comedy is a serious business. Nowadays action is a series of strings and well-timed explosions. Romance is only as good as the chemistry you can fake on screen and moves that move you tend to repeat themselves. The list goes on. With all these going on in Bollywood quite frequently, the horror suspense genre would have to be the most neglected and sadly to say the most unexplored. So naturally when a low budget film with new-to-upcoming artists leading the cast, and debutant director behind the megaphone pull a rabbit-out-of-the-hat magic trick at the box office, the interest is boundless. Brought to us by Bejoy Nambiar and Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Pizza is a remake of Tamil Film with the same name starring Akshay Oberoi and Parvathy Omanakuttan lead roles.

With a solid base for script, great performers and technical crew to bring out the punch for flavour and...

Box Office – Will Amit Sahni Ki List do a Pyaar Ka Punchnama?
Three notable films release this weekend – Hate Story 2, Amit Sahni Ki List and Pizza. Each of these three films is a mid-budget affair and doesn’t have stars hogging the limelight. While Hate Story 2 is as commercial a film as it gets, Amit Sahni Ki List and Pizza are concept films with a different storyline to offer. Also, Hate Story 2 is a part of the Hate Story franchise that was conceptualized by Vikram Bhatt and had resulted in a Paoli Dam success story directed by Vivek Agnihotri. On the other hand Pizza is the namesake remake of a Tamil horror flick with an urban set up to it. Between the three films, Hate Story 2 would get the biggest release as it has a solid backing of T-Series. The songs have been well promoted which has ensured some good visibility too. Moreover, ample skin show as well...

Father cuts son’s Pizza
It’s a rare father-son coming together, but they had to be matter-of-fact about it. Akshay Akkikeni, the director of the much awaited 3D suspense thriller Pizza, is the son of celebrated film editor, Sreekar Prasad. And while the father has actually cut the son’s directorial debut, he made sure that there was no special treatment.

Sreekar, who has won the Best Editor National Award a whopping eight times, has edited Bollywood hits like Dil Chahta Hai, Guru, Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, Shaitan, and more recently, Cocktail and Ek Thi Dayaan. Down south he’s cut and joined blockbusters like Okkadu and Thupakki. The veteran editor had a bittersweet experience editing his son’s debut effort Pizza. Says a member of the Pizza crew: “Sreekar Sir wanted to be very matter of fact in making sure that the edit was very tight and the suspense thriller lived every bit up to its reputation.

Getting ready to face your moment of fear!!
Imagine standing at a desolate graveyard all alone at 2 am and waiting for something to happen. Spooky! Well, that’s what Pizza‘s leading man Akshay Oberoi did night after night, spending one hour daily at different graveyards for one whole month. Why? To be ready when his moment of fear comes!

Produced by Utv Spotboy in association with Getaway Films and directed by debutant Akshay Akkikeni, Pizza is a 3D horror thriller where one wrong pizza delivery kick-starts one of the scariest nights ever.

Now, to prepare for his role of the protagonist in the film, Akshay Oberoi would go visit all those graveyards and try and get fear out of his system. “What was really spooky was the eerie silence at all those places,” recollects Akshay. “So silent that even a slight rustle of leaves would give me the goosebumps. I don’t know how I managed to...
