One thing I wondered when watching Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa was how many of the “real” people were actually planted, call me cynical but it is something that you can’t help but think, especially when the joke seems to go a little too far. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa .5 answers this question by not only revealing some of the scenes that never made it to the movie but also giving a glimpse behind the scenes of the film.
When I started to watch Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa .5 I expected to be watching the film again but with the added scenes, but this is not what you get. This is more of a documentary looking at the making of the film and...

The Raid 2: Berandal I was not a fan of The Raid, but I am expecting a Blu-ray review copy of The Raid 2 any day now as I'm willing to check out the sequel and see if there were any improvements. Maybe this film will be more than an action montage and have some sort of narrative weight to it.
Nymphomaniac Volume I & II I've already posted my review of both volumes of Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac and suffice to say, I wasn't entirely impressed. Some seem to think it's because the so-called comedy went over my head. Perhaps, but if what we're talking about here is blatant comedy then I'm just not interested.
Bad Words Still haven't seen it, but the box art says it's a "tour de force" and "great", and box art never lies.
Jodorowsky's Dune I still need and intend to see this movie,...

The problem with alternative comedy cuts is fairly self-evident: they’re made up of footage deemed less than what was actually released. Thus by their very make-up, they are less funny than whatever original preferred version preceded them. Bad Grandpa .5 makes a valiant attempt to overcome these short-comings (at least for the first half) by being less a collection of unused footage and more a behind the scenes making of. Hit the jump for my Bad Grandpa .5 Blu-ray review. The behind-the-scenes first half tends to be the stronger section of Bg .5. Here – there’s a focus on the beginning of the “sixty-day” shoot with Johnny Knoxville admittedly less-than-enthusiastic in the early going. We watch as Knoxville undergoes the torturous make-up process to become the titular “Bad Grandpa”: Irving Zisman. This is intercut with the various incarnations of Irving over the course of each Jackass film. It’s interesting to...
