Now that the Big 5 networks have unveiled their new fall shows (with a few midseason offerings thrown in), we can get down to really investing in what we’re going to see this year. But first, let’s address an issue that we’re sure many viewers have when it comes to getting excited about new shows: really awful titles.
What’s in a name? Well, if you ask “Trophy Wife,” everything. The critically acclaimed series didn’t feel like the usual sitcom fare. Its humor was smart, ironic and a little bit daffy, and the performances were delightful and nuanced. Sadly, during its entire 22 episodes, it couldn’t ever escape bubble status, and in the end, really lame marketing tactics was its downfall. The show wasn’t about a trophy wife at all, and in fact, that title undermined its strong, feminist voice. The show never saw a Season...

Happy New Year Citizens! 2015 is freshly upon us with tons of fantastic films to look forward to watching! Part of the fun isn’t just the big blockbusters, and of that there are plenty. I really take a lot of enjoyment in new and unique independent films. Convergence fits the mold perfectly as it is blends elements of mystery and horror to create a thriller worthy of attention.
Written and directed by Drew Hall, Convergence follows Detective Ben Walls and the mystery that ensues after an accident lands him in a local hospital. With numerous twists and turns, Convergence will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will avoid speaking too much about the plot to avoid potential spoilers – but rather focus on some of the other elements of the film.
First of the cinematography is top notch. The film is beautifully framed with lighting perfectly placed in...

We woke up to some amazing Nintendo news this morning, as they announced a slew of new things (including release dates, hardware, and more) during a Nintendo Direct session. We'll be covering all of the news here on Cinelinx, but let's start off with some of their Holiday plans, which includes pricing of the amiibos and some new Wii U bundles to take home. Come inside to check it out!
It's tough to really know where to begin. Nintendo dropped some serious information this morning concerning a lot of their big properties and collating that into an easily digestible format hasn't been easy! However, let's kick things off with some of the basics, like Nintendo's Amiibo figures (their answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity). This was announced during E3, but today they've revealed some pricing on the figures and a few games they'll be compatible with:

Citizens of Panem (and wherever else you may be), "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" has delivered a new video to us this morning, and we are convinced you're going to want to see it. It is not your traditional movie trailer, rather, it is an address from President Snow (Donald Sutherland). The roughly minute long clip features Panem's President extolling the virtues of the established district and capitol system, telling all who will listen just why it works so well. He also makes a threat or two, and closes with the patriotic slogan, "Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever." It is quite a moving speech, and it looks absolutely beautiful. Snow is dressed all in white on a white throne with a white background, and Peeta is right there next to him, also in white. Yup, that would be the stand-up-and-take-notice bit – Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is standing...
