Ororo Munroe has been many things throughout her incredible life - weather witch, current and past Avenger, Queen of Wakanda, Regent of Arakko - but the new Storm series will see the woman become a walking myth, as Ororo transforms into the Eternal Storm and officially becomes a god.

The Omega-level mutant Storm has been called a goddess countless times over the years, including the god Thor dubbing her the Goddess of Thunder, but the powerful hero has never truly been considered a god in the Marvel Cosmic Order.

The new Storm solo series - from writer Murewa Ayodele with artist Lucas Werneck - seeks to change that, with the cosmic entity known as Eternity deeming Ororo Munroe "worthy" in the conclusion to the issue,...

Jonathan Hickman's Doctor Doom one-shot showcases Doom at his most vulnerable, delving deep into his character without sacrificing his characteristic imposing nature, as he faces the universe-ending threat of Galactus. What Do The Names In Dragon Ball Mean?
Image
Dragon Ball's characters are iconic and well-known for their serious strength and power, so it's easy to forget that the series was always intended to have a healthy sense of humor to go with it. One of the most enduring aspects of Akira Toriyama's characteristic humor comes out in one of the most easily overlooked places: the character's names.

No character in Dragon Ball is named by accident. Each and every character is thoughtfully named as a humorous pun. It's a running gag throughout the series, and even Goku wasn't safe from it in the end. While many of Dragon Ball's best pun names are even better in the original Japanese, some of them translated perfectly into English in a way that's just as silly and memorable as Toriyama intended.

Stan Lee Wouldn't Believe How 2023 Rewrote the Cosmic Hierarchy of Marvel's Gods

Marvel is expanding its cosmology, with the introduction of multiple new deities and god-level characters in 2023 representing a concentrated effort to tell stories at a higher power-level. Jonathan Hickman Resets Marvel’s Mythology with G.O.D.S.
Image
Jonathan Hickman is the most rock-solid superstar working in comics today. He is the mastermind behind arguably the best Marvel crossover of all time in Secret Wars. His splashy return to Marvel from a post-Secret Wars creator-owned break was the biggest event in superhero books in the last half-decade, relaunching a stagnant X-Men line with a monster hit in House of X and Powers of X. But X-Men wasn’t his only pitch when he came back to Marvel: he also had a big cosmic idea that Marvel greenlit alongside HoX/PoX: G.O.D.S., a sweeping new series revamping the cosmology of the Marvel Universe and reimagining how cosmic entities like Eternity or the Living Tribunal interact with the heroes we see every day. "House of X-Sized": Jonathan Hickman Reveals G.O.D.S Hardcover Will Contain Previously Unreleased Material
Image
Marvel is radically redefining its cosmic order with the freshly launched G.O.D.S. series from game-changing X-Men scribe, the author behind 2019's "House of X" and the entire direction of the X-franchise in the years since. "House of X" was a massive book, loaded with supplemental materials, which provided rich, and at times critical, context for the massive era-defining saga. In an interview discussing his latest offering, Hickman suggested readers should expect similar from G.O.D.S.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hickman said that the hardcover edition of G.O.D.S. will be "House of X-size," with much of the writer's signature surplus content appearing for the first time in collected form.

Captain Marvel Is Introducing a New, Galactus-Style Cosmic God to Marvel Lore - "The Undone"

The scope of the Marvel Universe has been expanding lately, with the addition of new cosmic-level entities to the company's already-sprawling fictional reality. The new Captain Marvel series from writer Alyssa Wong will join this trend, pitting Carol Danvers against a mysterious, and heretofore unknown, cosmic threat known as "the Undone."

Marvel has revealed the existence of a “Babylon Event,” which could potentially destroy the universe in the upcoming G.O.D.S. miniseries. Later this year, Hickman, and artist Valerio Schti will do the same for the magical corner of the Marvel Universe in G.O.D.S. and central to it is a mysterious “Babylon Event,” which spells certain doom.

Marvel's New Gods Event Is a Secret Even Bigger Than Its X-Men Reboot
Image
Marvel’s forthcoming G.O.D.S. series is going to be even bigger than its X-Men reboot. Now, history is set to repeat itself as Hickman and artist Valerio Schiti launch G.O.D.S., which promises to upend the magical corner of the Marvel Universe.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Hickman elaborates more on G.O.D.S, which ships in October. Hickman wrote the "bible" for G.O.D.S. upon his return to Marvel in 2019 - at the same time he was getting warmed up on House of X/Powers of X. 5 Ways DC's 2023 Movies Will Be Important To The DC Universe's Future
Image
The four DC movies that will be released in 2023 can begin to shape a more defined cinematic future for the DC Universe. It's no secret that DC movies have struggled to create a cohesive live-action cinematic franchise in the past decade. Now, Warner Bros. is putting an end to the Dceu with four movies that will conclude the universe established by Man of Steel, paving the way for the birth of a brand-new franchise free from direct connections to the now-defunct Snyderverse.

The new Dcu's slate, helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, will introduce a new universe filled with popular DC characters such as Superman and Swamp Thing, beginning with the Dcu's first chapter, "Gods and Monsters." But to get there, the Dceu will need to gradually transition across 2023's Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Each of these cinematic...

How Jimmy Kimmel, ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and a Donkey Saved the Oscars

Now this was a damn good Oscar Night.

The 95th Academy Awards show sure helped dispel the bad odor of the past few years. Watching the In Memoriam interlude last year, as a cheerleader squad honored dead people by singing “Spirit in the Sky,” I said aloud, “This show can’t possibly get any worse.” But saying this on Oscar Night is like a Mel Brooks movie where someone says, “At least it’s not raining.” Reader, it got worse. But this year was the zippiest, most fun Oscar bash in ages.

An emotional Brendan Fraser won his first Oscar for The Whale, thanking director Darren Aronofsky “for throwing me a creative lifeline and hauling me aboard the good ship The Whale.”

“I started in this business 30 years ago and things didn’t come easily to me,” Fraser said. “There was a facility that I didn’t appreciate at the time, until it stopped. And I just want to say thank you for this acknowledgement because it couldn’t be done without my cast.

Superman: Legacy Theory Explains How The New Justice League Is Formed

A DC Universe theory links the formation of the new Justice League with the upcoming Superman: Legacy and The Authority movies. Following the announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios would create a new DC Universe starting with a Superman reboot, part of the DC Universe’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters was revealed. Consisting of live-action movies, live-action shows, and animated series, the initial DC Universe slate is promising a new take on the franchise, with several characters that were not in the Dceu now set to make their debut. Still, one major DC property was lacking from the initial slate – the Justice League.

So far, there has only been one theatrical Justice League movie, 2017’s Justice League. Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League, the Snyder Cut, was released in 2021 as a four-hour cut that set up at least two Justice League sequels, although those...
