‘Alien: Earth’ Episode 1 Would Have Been Completely Different If Noah Hawley Had Listened to Ridley Scott
Image
If Noah Hawley had listened to Ridley Scott’s advice, Alien: Earth’s pilot episode, Neverland, might have been very different from its current release. To all Alien connoisseurs, Scott’s original vision for his 1979 film, Alien, was to kill Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and let the Xenomorph mimic her voice while en route to Earth.

This concept did not sit well with Hawley, so he decided to drop it and go with the original plan that he had in his creative mind. Moreover, there are many instances where the first TV show of the franchise did not incorporate its futuristic and forward storyline.

Body-Snatchers Paranoia That Almost Took Over the Premiere of Alien: Earth Sigourney Weaver in Alien (1979) | Credits: 20th Century Studios

Though there are innumerable movies on this concept, just the mere thought of body snatchers seems to be terrifying. Imagine if we’d witnessed such an ending to the beloved film,...

Mgk Net Worth in 2025: Is Machine Gun Kelly Richer Than Megan Fox?
Image
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have always been one of Hollywood’s most talked-about couples, known for their whirlwind romance and headline-grabbing Pda. But when it comes to the question on everyone’s minds, who’s actually richer in 2025?

Well, the answer is pretty clear. Gun Kelly, aka Colson Baker, takes the lead, leaving Fox’s trailing behind. It turns out that Mgk’s success in music, acting, and even directing has given him a clear edge. Meanwhile, Fox, a veteran actress famous for hits like Transformers and Jennifer’s Body, has had her fair share of the spotlight, but her net worth hasn’t quite caught up to Mgk’s diverse hustle yet.

Whether they’re vacationing with their daughter Saga Blade or fueling breakup-and-makeup rumors, their financial game shows Mgk currently holds the richer title. So, if you’re curious about the breakdown of their earnings, investments, and...

Stolen Time Review: Seeking Justice in the Shadows
Image
Helene Klodawsky’s Stolen Time begins not with a bang but with a question of accounting, the coldest form of horror. The film introduces a world where human life is a line item on a balance sheet, its value depreciating with age. Here, the for-profit long-term care industry operates in the shadows, a bureaucratic labyrinth designed to extract wealth from the vulnerable.

Our guide into this abyss is lawyer Melissa Miller, a figure of relentless determination. She is less a white knight and more a hardboiled detective, driven to expose a rot that permeates the highest levels of corporate and political power.

Her quest is a slow, methodical assembly of evidence against an enemy that is everywhere and nowhere at once. The central conflict is established immediately: one woman’s methodical pursuit of justice against a vast, faceless system built on the quiet, sanctioned suffering of the elderly. It is a modern noir,...

Amanda Seyfried Says She'd Do 'Mamma Mia 3' in a "Heartbeat"
Image
Amanda Seyfried recently called out Hollywood's increasing reliance on sequels...even as she admitted her willingness to return for another installment in her most popular franchise. During a conversation with Rachel Brosnahan for Interview Magazine, the two actresses discussed this summer's most anticipated releases, and the conversation ventured into the two speaking of sequels they'd be interested in appearing in. When Brosnahan asked Seyfried, "What's our Barbenheimer between 'Fantastic Four,' 'Jurassic Park,' and 'Superman'?"

Seyfried responded with a few suggestions before reflecting on the "fatigue" currently felt in the industry (and audiences) with constant sequels...before quickly declaring that she would return for a third installment in the Mamma Mia! franchise.

"It's Fantastic Super-park. It's Four Superparks. Four Dinosaurs. Four Super Dinosaurs. I don't know!" She added: "I will say, there's a little bit of fatigue with sequels. I want original content. I think...

Amanda Seyfried Calls Out Marvel, DC & Other Studios Sequels: “It’s Just for Money”
Image
In a candid conversation with Rachel Brosnahan for Interview magazine, Amanda Seyfried expressed frustration with Hollywood’s reliance on sequels, labeling them as money-driven.

“I will say, there’s a little bit of fatigue with sequels,” she said. “I want original content. I think it’s really scary and brave to do it. It’s not scary and not very brave to do sequels. It’s just for money and it’s frustrating. Then again, I’d do Mamma Mia 3 in a heartbeat.” Despite her critique, Seyfried admitted she’s starred in sequels like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ted 2.

The discussion touched on this summer’s crowded lineup of franchise films, including Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Fantastic Four. Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman (set for July 2025), jokingly suggested a “Barbenheimer” mashup.

Amanda Seyfried Slaps Marvel, DC & Other Movie Sequels: “It’s Just for Money”
Image
Amanda Seyfried and Rachel Brosnahan recently had a chat for Interview magazine, and they got real about Hollywood’s obsession with sequels. Seyfried didn’t hold back, even though she admitted she’s been part of it herself, starring in movies like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ted 2.

She also said she’s still trying to get a Jennifer’s Body sequel made with Megan Fox.

During their conversation, Brosnahan brought up how packed this summer is with big franchise movies. She’s starring as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s new Superman, which hits theaters in July. At the same time, new Jurassic Park and Fantastic Four films are also coming out.

“We have Jurassic Park, Superman and Fantastic Four,” Brosnahan said. “What’s our Barbenheimer between Fantastic Four, Jurassic Park, and Superman? The people need you. Supertastic Park?”

Amanda Seyfried Details Interaction With Harvey Weinstein Over 2013 Movie 'Lovelace': 'People Were Scared of Him'
Image
Amanda Seyfried is reflecting on a 2013 interaction with Harvey Weinstein.

In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress discussed inviting the now-disgraced film producer to the premiere of her 2013 movie Lovelace.

“Everybody admitted he was that way. Everybody knew he was. I didn’t know the extent, I had heard few rumors,” she told Adam Brody during the Variety Actors on Actors series.

Amanda said that while in Park City, Utah, over a decade ago, she approached Weinstein in his car and asked him if he was going to attend the premiere of Lovelace at the Sundance Film Festival. Apparently, he rescheduled his flight and attended the screening.

Keep reading to find out more…

After the screening, Weinstein ended up approaching Amanda and acquired the project for $3 million for distribution, something which Amanda and her team celebrated at the time.

Amanda Seyfried Reveals Plans for ‘Jennifer’s Body 2’ With Resurrected Megan Fox, Pitches Adam Brody to Play the Devil
Image
Is “Jennifer’s Body” ready to come off the ice?

The cult horror film starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody is nearing its 20th anniversary, but sequel talk has moved at a steady clip in the years following its 2009 release. Seyfried and Brody, in contention for Emmy nominations this year, recently reunited for a roving “Actors on Actors” conversation where Variety got important updates on the second film.

“We’re making another one,” Seyfried told Brody definitively during their chat.

“I heard, what can you tell me?” he asked in return.

In the original movie, “Mamma Mia!” star Seyfried played Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, the wallflower best friend of bad girl Fox (the titular Jennifer). Brody played Nikolai, lead singer of the aspiring rock band Low Shoulder. When the girls head to a local dive bar to see them play, Brody’s character reveals bigger plans for his groupie...

Why Megan Fox’s Jennifer’s Body Became A Cult Classic — From Box Office Flop To Feminist Masterpiece
Image
How Did Megan Fox’s Jennifer’s Body Earn A Cult Classic Status? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

When Jennifer’s Body was released in 2009, it was brushed off as another campy teen horror flick with nothing more to offer than Megan Fox’s beauty appeal. Critics weren’t kind, audiences were confused, and the studio’s marketing didn’t help. It was also considered a box office disappointment, earning only $31 million worldwide against a $16 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). But over a decade later, the story’s been rewritten, and Jennifer’s Body is now a full-blown cult classic. The movie, once labeled a flop, is being reclaimed by fans and critics as a brilliant, biting feminist horror film that was simply ahead of its time.

What Is Jennifer’s Body About?

Jennifer’s Body follows the story of two high school girls: Needy (Amanda Seyfried), a shy and bookish teen, and Jennifer (Megan...

‘Fountain of Youth’ Review: A Muddled Quest
Image
John Krasinski, Domhnall Gleeson and Natalie Portman in ‘Fountain of Youth’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

Despite a big-name cast, Guy Ritchie’s latest action-adventure, Fountain of Youth, is a surprisingly shallow experience. The film tries for a fun, witty vibe but misses the mark entirely, coming off as a watered-down version of far better treasure-hunt movies. At its best, it’s a sort of National Treasure-lite, but those brief moments don’t come close to justifying the two-hour runtime, which feels like a real grind.

Four-time Emmy nominee John Krasinski’s normally able to lift average material, but not in this case. Oscar winner Natalie Portman also doesn’t inject anything special into the globe-trotting adventure. The fight scenes feel generic, and the stunts give off a serious “been there, done that” vibe. And Fountain of Youth‘s fantastical setups, while expected to be outlandish in this genre, are just...

Supergirl Star Milly Alcock Was Told She Needed An Acting Coach By "Someone High Up" On House Of The Dragon
Image
Milly Alcock will soon take flight as our new big-screen Girl of Steel in DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (though there's a chance the title has been changed to Supergirl) and it was her acclaimed turn as the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO's House of the Dragon that initially caught James Gunn's attention.

It seems not everyone involved with the series was quite as taken with Alcock's work, however.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Alcock revealed that "someone very high up” on the Game of Thrones prequel series told her that she would be seeing an acting coach.

“On my second day on House of the Dragon, one of the... I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up, pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach,’” the actress recalled.

‘Till Death’ Blu-ray Review

Stars: Megan Fox, Eoin Macken, Callan Mulvey, Jack Roth, Aml Ameen, Lili Rich | Written by Jason Carvey | Directed by S.K. Dale

It doesn’t seem like that long ago that Megan Fox was starring in the Transformers franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jennifer’s Body. Now she’s starring in Machine Gun Kelly videos and Till Death, a low-budget variation on Gerald’s Game. Hoping her taste in scripts was better than her taste in music I pressed play…

Emma (Megan Fox) is married to Mark who’s gone from prosecutor to sleazy defence attorney. How sleazy? He freely admits he’s happier making big money keeping scum like Bobby Ray, the man who mugged and nearly killed Emma out of jail than he was working hard to put them away. Innocent, guilty, who cares as long as they pay. Needless to say, it’s not the happiest of marriages.

Megan Fox Stuns in This “Intense” Thriller, Now Streaming on Netflix
Image
Megan Fox has really never gotten a fair deal. I’m not going to relitigate decades of Hollywood misogyny, but know that I believe Fox is a more talented performer than her harshest critics would have you believe. After all, nothing in cult classic Jennifer’s Body works without her, and it’s a considerably more complex performance than “sexy succubus”. In recent years, Fox has been cropping up in more and more horror films, and I’ve largely been a pretty big fan.

Rogue pits her against some killer lions in a goofy The Ghost and the Darkness riff, and Subservience… well, Fox is really good in it. Speaking of Subservience, director S.K. Dale previously helmed Till Death. Dale made his debut there, and it similarly stars Megan Fox. It’s also incredible, and streaming now on Netflix. What are you waiting for?

‘Game of Thrones’ Creators Confess to the Ultimate Tavern Snub: “It was a mistake”
Image
Game of Thrones, despite its worldwide popularity, is highly infamous for how it ended. While a section of fans outright cancels the show’s existence after Season 6, another section can list a series of problems that plagued its conclusion.

When the creators, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, sat for an interview during the release of 3 Body Problem, they were asked if they would like to change anything about the show. Although we can list a myriad of plot points that took GoT downhill in its last season, the creator duo responded with a change that nobody expected to hear: Mord the Jailer’s story. Yes, you heard it right!

Body Odyssey Review: The Sculpted Abyss
Image
Body Odyssey opens on Mona immersed in ritualized training, each clang of iron and hiss of steroids marking her devotion to a form that exceeds usual human scale. We meet her through a clinical lens—long takes of muscle fibers contracting, close‑ups of injected syringes—yet beneath this precision lies a surreal undercurrent, as if we’ve stepped into an experimental French New Wave gym.

Mona’s quest for the Miss Body Universe crown drives every scene. Early moments anchor us in her disciplined routine: dawn lifts, calorie counts, whispered self‑affirmations. As her regimen intensifies, the film shifts structure, intercutting her present labors with flickering memories of solitude and brief encounters with Nic, the younger man whose fleeting warmth unsettles her equilibrium. These nonlinear glimpses of longing fracture the narrative, inviting us to assemble Mona’s psyche from shards of image and sound.

Tricarico stakes her claim in body‑horror–tinged cinema,...

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Star Shares BTS Photo Revealing Movie Logo (& Possible Title Change)
Image
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is seemingly close to wrapping filming at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studio per an Instagram post from actor David Krumholtz. The second film of James Gunn's new DC cinematic universe is set to hit theaters in June 2026.

Krumholtz's Instagram post, which the actor used to announce he's wrapped his scenes, showed the front and back of his chair on set. The back reads "Zor-El", which is the name of his character and the father of Milly Alcock's Supergirl. In the caption, the actor mentioned Alcock, who before being cast as the lead Kryptonian in this film played a younger version of Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon. He also mentioned 1899 star Emily Beecham, his on-screen wife. Krumholtz, who recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, thanked director Craig Gillespie, as well as DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn. The second image in the...

Orochimaru’s Worst Naruto Moment Wasn’t Killing the 3rd Hokage, It Was Doing Something So Heinous We’re Surprised Kishimoto Redeemed Him in Boruto
Image
Orochimaru, the original creepmaster supreme in Naruto, has been keeping his head low in Boruto. Even after committing one heinous crime after another, he was somehow allowed to a redemption arc. Of course, plenty of fans were disgusted by how the villain was let go so easily.

But who can stop Masashi Kishimoto from doing whatever he wants with his story? Being the author, he has the power to forgive even the most heinous of criminals, even if the criminal in question caused the death of the third Hokage.

Orochimaru has committed countless sins in Naruto | Credits: Pierrot

But there’s one crime that no one can forgive Orochimaru for, no matter how much he repents for it (not like he has actually shown any repentance in this case).

The worst crime committed by Orochimaru in Naruto

Orochimaru committed so many horrible crimes in Naruto that one could make an entire list out of them.

Supergirl Set Photos Reveal Best Look Yet At Milly Alcock's Woman Of Tomorrow Costume
Image
As filming continues on DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in London, some more photos from the set have been shared online.

Still no close-ups, unfortunately, but these latest drone shots do give us our best look yet at Milly Alcock suited-up as the Girl of Steel, while revealing some new costume details.

The suit appears to be almost identical to the one Kara Zor-El wears in Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow comic, with the classic color scheme, cape and skirt. We also have confirmation that the costume will have the iconic "S" shield on the chest and back of the cape.

There's no sign of the mysterious foe Kara was doing battle with in the previous photos, but based on the few details we could make out, there's a pretty good chance it was indeed Jason Momoa as Lobo (more here).

With heightened security around the set, these...

Hayley Williams Revives ‘Self-Serenades’ Series With Super Rare ‘Jennifer’s Body’ Track
Image
Hayley Williams has unearthed a true deep cut from her catalog, sharing a super rare performance of “Teenagers” — a song she wrote for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack — on Instagram.

Williams shared a solo acoustic performance of the tune, sitting on the floor and strumming as she sang, “It’s in the air now/Bitter tears and broken hearts/We’re teenagers/We count the years/We think we’re smart/But we’re not.”

In the caption to the post, Williams recalled writing the song for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack when she,...

Supergirl Set Photos Reveal First Glimpse Of Milly Alcock In Costume As The Girl Of Steel... And Lobo?
Image
As production continues on DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in London, we have our first look at star Milly Alcock suited-up as the Girl of Steel.

The photos are not the clearest (to say the least), but despite the distance, the images do reveal that the suit has a comic-accurate blue and red color scheme. We'll obviously need to see some closer shots before getting a better idea of the full costume design, but more photos are sure to follow soon.

Based on what we can discern from the photos and video below, Kara is preparing to do battle with an unknown foe on top of a tank.

There's some speculation that the other individual might be Jason Momoa's Lobo, but it's very difficult to tell for sure.

'Jennifer's Body 2'? Amanda Seyfried Talks Sequel & How the Original Movie Got 'Ruined'
Image
Amanda Seyfried is reflecting on Jennifer’s Body, as well as a potential sequel.

The 39-year-old Mean Girls alum addressed the 2009 horror-comedy starring Megan Fox, which stalled at the box office, but has since been reappraised by audiences as a cult classic in recent years.

In an interview, Amanda called it a “perfect movie.”

Keep reading to find out more…

“It’s got balls,” Amanda said of the film to GQ.

“We were expressing a certain angst in a very, very specific, comedic way in a very specific genre…there was everything you could want,” she continued. “Girl on girl action.”

“If the critics criticize anything it would be the marketing. The marketing sucked. It just did. And we all agree…the marketing team cheapened it like it was just, you know, a romp, a gory romp. I think they ruined it.”

She added that she and Megan made “a really good team.

“I Can’t Critique This Movie, To Me It’s Perfect”: 16 Years Later, Amanda Seyfried Says “The Marketing” Was to Blame for the Poor Reception of ‘Jennifer’s Body’
Image
Amanda Seyfried has strong feelings about her 2009 horror-comedy film “Jennifer’s Body.” She played Needy Lesnicki, a shy high school girl whose best friend Jennifer, acted by Megan Fox, gets possessed by a demon and starts killing boys.

The movie, directed by Karyn Kusama and written by Diablo Cody, didn’t do well when it came out. Seyfried blames the failure on bad marketing.

In a recent chat with GQ, Seyfried praised the film. “I can’t critique this movie. To me, it’s perfect,” she said. “It’s got balls. Diablo Cody was outspoken and beautiful and smart and funny. We were expressing a certain angst in a very specific, comedic way in a very specific genre. The special effects were so incredible, there were stunts, there was everything you could want.” She believes it had a unique mix of humor, horror, and stunts that made it special.

The marketing,...

'Jennifer's Body' Fans Need To Watch Diablo Cody's 'Lisa Frankenstein'
Image
Sometimes, a movie just needs to be brought back from the dead. Or at least that's the case for 2024's romantic comedy Lisa Frankenstein, the brainchild of Diablo Cody (fun fact: a pen name), and the directorial debut of Zelda Williams. Cody is the Academy-Award-winning writer of Juno, as well as many other female-empowering films like Young Adult, Ricky and the Flash, and, of course, the cult horror classic Jennifer's Body. Infamously, Jennifer's Body, which stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, suffered an egregious case of mismarketing prior to its release. The explicitly feminist, satirical film was packaged by the marketing team as a raunchy sex comedy to cater to male audiences, causing it to be panned by critics for not meeting expectations. Over time, Jennifer's Body has come to be loved for the hilarious and salient movie it always was.

Earlier this year, another horror satire written by Cody,...

'I Wanna Celebrate It by Doing a Sequel': Amanda Seyfried Praises Jennifer's Body and Notes 'The Marketing Ruined It'
Image
Nowadays, Jennifer's Body is considered a cult classic, a comedy horror that was ahead of its time. The movie came out in 2009 and it didn't have the impact the stars, Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, as well as the creative team had hoped for, but they have highlighted the movie's impact throughout the years.

Seyfried has often addressed the movie and has always had nothing but good things to say. The same trend continues, as the actress addressed the movie in a new interview with GQ, where she breaks down her most iconic characters. Naturally, she also brought up Jennifer's Body's Needy.

"I can't critique this movie, it's to me a perfect movie. It's got balls. Diablo Cody was outspoken and beautiful and smart and funny," she said about the screenwriter. "We were expressing a certain angst in a very, very specific, comedic way, in a very specific genre."

Amy Adams and Filmmaker Karyn Kusama to Talk Representation at Archer Film Festival
Image
As the industry encounters a wave of diversity, equity and inclusion rollbacks, Amy Adams, filmmaker Karyn Kusama and Telluride Film Festival executive director Julie Huntsinger are booked to discuss representation in front of the next generation.

The trio will participate in a student-led Q&a panel as part of the Archer Film Festival at the Writers Guild Theater in Los Angeles on April 11. The chat, for Archer School for Girls students and aspiring filmmakers, is designed to focus on “pressing questions of how to create meaningful change for women in film, both in front of and behind the camera, within a rapidly shifting industry,” per the school.

The Archer Film Fest is an entirely student-led and organized effort that seeks to empower female filmmakers and amplify underrepresented voices. In addition to the Q&a, the fest will screen a selection of finalist films. More than 300 student-produced film submissions were received from more than 30 countries.

Amanda Seyfried blames poor marketing on Jennifer’s Body flopping
Image
Jennifer’s Body should have done far better than it did at the box office, even if it was in the poster alone: a red-hot Megan Fox (already a sex symbol of the Maxim variety) in a short dress sitting on top of a desk that’s hiding a severed body part. But it didn’t work – and it’s the marketing itself that co-star Amanda Seyfried thinks is to blame for the audience not finding Jennifer’s Body.

Speaking with GQ (via EW), Amanda Seyfried said that the reason Jennifer’s Body only made $16 million domestically had to do with how Fox bungled the way to pitch it to audiences. “If the critics criticize anything, it would be the marketing. The marketing sucked. It just did, and we all agree…The marketing team cheapened it, like it was just, you know, a romp. A gory romp. I think they ruined it.

Amanda Seyfried Reveals She Was Offered Gamora Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Image
Amanda Seyfried, the actor known for her work in films like Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls and Mank, has revealed that she was originally offered a major part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe...but she turned it down. During the casting process for James Gunn's 2014 superhero comedy Guardians of the Galaxy, Seyfried won the part of the feared intergalactic warrior and daughter of Thanos, Gamora. However, she didn't think the Marvel outing would be successful (even thinking it would be the franchise's first flop) and rejected the offer. Of course, Guardians of the Galaxy ultimately made over $773 million at the box office, and kick-started one of the McU's most beloved trilogies.

Seyfried revealed details while appearing on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, where she spoke about her most notable roles and those she missed. Recently, she appeared in the Peacock miniseries Long Bright River, and soon...

Zendaya Once Revealed People Checked On Her After An Intense ‘Euphoria’ Episode Aired: “I Got A Lot Of Messages”
Image
Did Zendaya’s intense Euphoria performance had people worried? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Zendaya is no stranger to heavy scenes on Euphoria. But one episode in Season 2 had fans seriously worried. So much so that many reached out to see if she was okay. The episode in question was episode 5, “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.” The one where Rue’s life falls apart—fast.

Rue spends the whole episode running. From friends. From family. From herself. It’s the moment where her addiction hits rock bottom. And it wasn’t easy for Zendaya to film either.

In an interview with Variety, Zendaya opened up about how hard that episode was. “It’s tough,” she said. “And I thought what was actually quite sweet was when that episode did air, I did get a lot of messages from people checking in on me, which I appreciate.”

Why the ‘Novocaine’ Directors Snuck a 25-Minute Romcom Into Their Bloody Action Movie
Image
If you’ve seen Dan Berk and Robert Olsen’s 2019 indie gem Villains, then you understand why the Novocaine directing duo wouldn’t want to make another austere action movie.

Their 2019 genre mashup starring Maika Monroe and Bill Skarsgard had an unconventional romance in between all the laughs, thrills and scares, and the former NYU roommates knew that the most successful version of Novocaine would also need some tonal variation to complement its own unfamiliar love story. Based on a script by Lars Jacobson, the co-directors revamped the more “straightforward” tone into a bloody action-comedy with plenty of heart to balance it all out.

Jack Quaid plays Nathan Caine, an assistant bank manager who suffers from congenital insensitivity to pain (Cip). As a result of his life without physical pain, Nate lives a very insular existence outside of work until his long-standing crush and co-worker, Sherry (Amber Midthunder), makes the first move.

‘Novocaine’ Directors on Paying Tribute to ‘Die Hard’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’ with a New Kind of Action Hero in Jack Quaid
Image
Directors Robert Olsen and Dan Berk are well known to horror fans for smart, scary, and sometimes quite funny thrillers like “Body,” “Villains,” and “Significant Other.” With their latest film, “Novocaine,” the precise and expressive visual style of those early films remains, but the genre is new: The story of a mild-mannered banker (Jack Quaid) on a quest to save his kidnapped new girlfriend (Amber Midthunder) is a full-on action movie packed with exhilarating set pieces.

For Berk and Olsen, getting the chance to play in Richard Donner and John McTiernan’s sandbox was a long-held dream finally realized.

“We’ve wanted to make an action movie for a very long time, but it’s really hard early in your career,” Berk told IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “No one’s going to give you the 20-plus-million dollars you need to make an action movie for your first feature.”
