Theo James made his acting debut in 2010 in the television series A Passionate Woman, but it wasn't until the role of Four/ Tobias in the The Divergent Series trilogy in 2014 that he received worldwide recognition. Since then, he has picked a series of interesting roles, including horror comedy in the latest Stephen King adaptation, The Monkey.
However, there are still plenty of genres for James to explore in the future. For example, he hasn't made his debut in the superhero world, and, in a new interview with Cbr to promote The Monkey, he teased he wouldn't rule that out. When speaking about the possibilities, he even chose a surprising character.

When you think of werewolves, your mind probably goes straight to foggy forests and full moons—but let’s not forget the other perfect backdrop for a beastly horror story: snow. Wintery werewolf movies are quite the niche but still an oh-so-satisfying subgenre. One where the frigid chill of the season cranks up the tension, and the isolation of a snowy landscape creates the perfect hunting ground for our furry friends.
Werewolves in the snow are pure nightmare fuel. There’s something about the mix of primal creatures and icy environments that feels so right. Maybe it’s the visual of blood staining freshly fallen snow, or the way a howling wind seems to mimic the call of a wolf. Whatever it is, winter werewolf movies hit a little differently, offering both atmospheric dread and some ferocious fun.
So, whether you’re here for gothic fairy tales, dark comedies, or...

The Vampire Diaries was an incredibly successful series on The CW. Running for eight seasons from 2009 to 2017, the series followed Elena Gilbert and the vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore. The series was massively popular during its run, spawning two successful spin-offs and cementing itself as a classic entry in the teen drama genre.

The Gentlemen's Theo James is playing a double role in Osgood Perkins' Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, as twin brothers Hal and Bill. Sweet Tooth's Christian Convery will be playing the younger versions of Hal and Bill. The movie's supporting cast features other familiar faces including Elijah Wood and Tatiana Maslany.
The cast of the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey is star-studded. The movie, which wrapped principal photography in March 2024, is Osgood Perkins' follow-up collaboration with distributor Neon after the smash success Longlegs, the serial killer thriller starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage that grossed $92.8 million against a budget of roughly $10 million. Michael Corvin's character in Underworld played a crucial role as the first hybrid of vampire and werewolf. Scott Speedman's absence from more recent Underworld movies has raised questions about the character's fate. While Michael's story may have ended, Scott Speedman has continued to thrive in his acting career post-Underworld.
Many fans have wondered what happened Scott Speedman's character Michael Corvin in the Underworld franchise, as he seemingly vanished despite being an integral character. The first Underworld had the simple but effective pitch of vampires versus werewolves with a dash of romance thrown in and became a solid hit and helped make Kate Beckinsale a certified action movie star. It wasn't long until the sequel Underworld: Evolution arrived, which pit Death Dealer Selene (Beckinsale) and her lover Michael against the originators of the vampire and werewolf races. The franchise then featured a prequel Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans, but Beckinsale wasn't involved

This past weekend was, without a doubt, one that several studios and pretty much every movie theater around the country (and much of the world for that matter) would like to forget. Several new releases hit theaters, including Guy Ritchie's "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," as well as Crunchroll's latest anime film, "Spy x Family Code: White." It was, however, Universal Pictures' horror/comedy "Abigail" that was the most high-profile release of the bunch. While the film did perform better than the other debuts, it fell well short of expectations and further cemented a point that has been quietly lingering for some time: Vampires are not generally good for business these days.
"Abigail" opened to just $10.2 million, coming in second place over the weekend to Alex Garland's "Civil War," which pulled in $11.1 million in its second frame. Overall, it was one of the worst weekends at the box office in 2024 to date.

Ballerina spinoff to shake Rotten Tomatoes pattern with potential impressive ratings, changing franchise trajectory. Highly anticipated Ballerina film's critical reception to determine the future of the John Wick spinoff series. Director Len Wiseman hoping for redemption of Rotten Tomatoes reputation, banking on Ballerina success.
The John Wick franchise is expanding with its first spinoff movie, and Ballerina is already guaranteed to break a Rotten Tomatoes streak, no matter what the final score is. Inevitably, every movie franchise reaches a point of diminishing returns, and not even necessarily due to poor creative choices or bomb installments (though Underworld certainly has both of those things). The problem for Underworld, and why even a legacy sequel down the line wouldn’t really work, is that every other major character who isn’t Selene (Kate Beckinsale) was only in a couple of installments before dying or being sacrificed to the Budget Gods of the Bottom Line. As great as Kate Beckinsale was as Selene, and as great as Beckinsale continues to be in other projects, Selene can’t be the be-all-end-all if Underworld is to have a future. The way things were left in Underworld: Blood Wars, the underperforming fifth installment from 2017, there certainly could be more story with Selene, but letting things end is okay — especially in Hollywood, where finality is only a temporary state of being.

It may be difficult to think of a film series that is more aesthetically dated than the "Underworld" movies, and I include certain century-old silent movies in that statement. The first "Underworld" film was released in the fall of 2003, and it was infused with all the genre trappings of its era. The long black leather coats, the blue-tinted photography, the use of slow-motion, and the stoic-yet-capable badass heroes all reek of post-"Matrix" malaise, appealing only to young people who were 16 in September of 2003. What's more, the film's soundtrack featured some terrible metal tunes that old-world metalheads found to be shrill and whiny. Sorry, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and The Icarus Line.
The premise of "Underworld" sounds fun on paper, but the bleak, steely tone of the movie made the movie less-than-fun to watch. For centuries, vampires and werewolves — called Lycans — have been at war, killing each other out of sight from the human world.

When “Underworld” premiered in 2003, it was dismissed by critics, partly because its vamps, particularly Pvc-clad lead character Selene (Kate Beckinsale) hardly ever bite anyone. But the action-horror film, which costarred Scott Speedman, Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy, went on to spawn an entire franchise about the war between the Lycans and the Vampires.
If you want to watch the series in chronological order, you’d have to start with the second film, which is set in the early 15th century and doesn’t feature Selene at all.
Here’s how to watch all the “Underworld” movies in order.

It’s no secret movie lovers go crazy for vampire films. Whether violent and grotesque undead or drool-worthy, six-pack-sporting bloodsuckers, we devour vampire movies like there's no tomorrow, and the Underworld franchise is no exception. The franchise has been a staple since 2003, but diehard fans might be getting some bad news due to significant changes.
When the first movie, Underworld, hit theaters with a $22 million budget, the film made a jaw-dropping $100 million worldwide despite receiving mixed reviews. A few bad reviews didn't stop the producers' momentum and four more installments. A franchise worthy of its salt was created, and lead star Kate Beckinsale’s career skyrocketed. She starred in four of the five films as the vampire Death Dealer Selene, and to fans, she quickly became the face of the Underworld universe. An Underworld TV show could focus on Selene's daughter Eve, exploring her training as a Death Dealer and her role as the heir to a vampire coven. The series could delve into the rebuilding efforts of vampire covens after the Nordic Coven's destruction, exploring different approaches and ideologies within the vampire world. Fans would love to see a Kate Beckinsale cameo in the show, as it would help ground the series in the franchise and appeal to longtime fans.

Wiseman clarified that the plans for a revival are focused on a small screen adaptation rather than a sixth sequel on the big screen. Underworld, despite mixed critical reception, has a devoted fan base and has spawned multiple sequels, making it a viable property for a reboot or TV adaptation.
Director Len Wiseman has confirmed that a reboot of the vampire versus werewolf saga, Underworld, is still being planned. Speaking with EW, Wiseman, who has directed several installments in the Underworld franchise beginning with the first outing back in 2003, was asked whether there are “any plans to bring Underworld back in any fashion?” Check out what the filmmaker had to say below:
“There is a fashion that is in the works. I can't talk about it, but there is a future to Underworld for sure.

The reviews for M3GAN are in and critics agree that the killer doll film is an electrifying time at the movies that introduces a brand-new icon to the horror canon. The film, which was produced by James Wan, stars Allison Williams as a young scientist who develops a lifelike artificial intelligence doll to be a companion for her orphaned niece, only to realize that the AI's directive to protect the girl has resulted in the android M3GAN becoming a bloodthirsty killing machine. In addition to being the first major wide release of the year, M3GAN arrives in theaters in the wake of a massive wave of viral interest on social media thanks to a clip of the killer doll dancing that captured the imagination of people across the globe.
Today, ahead of M3GAN's impending theatrical release, the embargo lifted on reviews of the film, allowing critics' to share their full thoughts.

It’s extremely impolite to release a film like “M3GAN” in the first weekend of the calendar year. Early January is a time that’s usually reserved for unremarkable or awful genre films like “Underworld: Blood Wars” or the re-quel of “The Grudge.” But “M3GAN” is actually a good movie, and it shouldn’t be tainted by this association with the typical winter doldrums.
Actually, “M3GAN” is more than just a good movie: It’s a great one. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum attended the premiere of the company's new film M3GAN in costume as the viral killer doll at the center of the film. M3GAN, which debuts in theaters on January 6, 2023, stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, and Brian Jordan Alvarez, and follows a young woman who becomes the caretaker for her niece, introducing her to an AI doll companion named M3GAN whose protective instincts turn deadly. A peculiar moment from the film's trailer in which M3GAN dances in a hallway quickly went viral and was later recreated by a troupe of dancers at the film's L.A. premiere on December 8.
On his official Twitter account, Blum shares a photo from the official M3GAN premiere. Blum, who is a producer on the film, is featured in the center of the photo wearing a full M3GAN costume, posing alongside four of the dancers who performed at the premiere.

Oliver Stark is on fire. After such fantastical roles in “Into the Badlands” and “Underworld: Blood Wars”, the British-born actor landed on the more grounded “9-1-1″.
The hit TV procedural follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders and Stark portrays Evan “Buck” Buckley, a firefighter who works at Station 118. For the 31-year-old actor, the project checked off plenty of boxes.
“One thing I have always found myself very interested in is being a part of projects with an action element to them, something 9-1-1 does to a huge degree,” Stark tells Et Canada. “It’s something I find exhilarating and if done well, can really enhance the drama.”

Plot: A storm rages. A young girl is kidnapped. Her mother teams up with the mysterious woman next door to pursue the kidnapper – a journey that tests their limits and exposes shocking secrets from their pasts.
Review: For every heavily marketed movie premiering on Netflix, there are dozens that fly under the radar. More often than not, these movies are throwaway programming designed to bulk up the selection that Netflix has to offer but every now and then there is a solid flick that is worth your attention. "The world's not a playground. Teach your kid to look out for herself." Netflix has revealed the trailer for a crime thriller titled Lou, from filmmaker Anna Foerster, who hasn't directed any other movie since making Underworld: Blood Wars in 2016. Produced by J.J. Abrams, this is heading straight to Netflix for streaming in September. A storm rages. A young girl is kidnapped. Her mother teams up with the mysterious woman next door to pursue the kidnapper, a journey that tests their limits and exposes shocking secrets from their pasts. Academy Award winner Allison Janney and Emmy Award nominee Jurnee Smollett star in Lou, alongside Logan Marshall-Green and Ridley Asha Bateman. Wow this looks intense!! Allison Janney stepping up and fighting back - damn. It's almost like she's playing Josephine Wick or something similar with that line about "we all have a past, we all have secrets" at the end. This...

Academy Award and Emmy Award-winner Allison Janney is adding action star to her very long resume with the upcoming Netflix film "Lou." The streamer just released a new trailer for the film in which she co-stars with Jurnee Smollett.
In "Lou," Janney plays a woman who has left a life of danger behind her, and has settled into a normal existence. That all changes when the mother of a kidnapped daughter (Smollett) begs her to help bring the child home. Also starring in the film are Logan Marshall-Green and Ridley Asha Bateman ("Shattered").
Janney trained for "Lou" with fight choreographer Daniel Bernhardt at the 87Eleven studio, where Charlize Theron trained for "Atomic Blonde," and Halle Berry trailed for "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum." If the fight scenes in...

Director Riley Stearns is the kind of creative whose movies garner critical acclaim, serve as film festival darlings, and allow actors to play characters beyond what they're typically given by Hollywood. Underworld star Kate Beckinsale reveals an idea she had for a crossover with fellow vampire hunter Blade, something which she would still love to do. Beckinsale's Underworld / Blade movie would have seen her character Selene team up with Marvel's Daywalker, with the pair no doubt striking fear in the unbeating hearts of vampires everywhere.
"I really wanted them to do an Underworld-Blade mashup. What a duo (Selene and Blade) would be. I would definitely do that, but I think they just wanted to reboot Blade as Blade, so they didn't go for it."
This is not the first time that Beckinsale has pitched this idea, with the actress revealing during a 2016 Q&a for the franchise's fifth movie, Underworld: Blood Wars, that Underworld's production team had discussed the crossover with Marvel, who ultimately decided to turn it down. This was later confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige who said,...

Theo James and Rose Leslie have been cast in the lead role of HBO’s upcoming series based on “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”
Based on Audrey Niffenegger’s novel of the same name, the series tells the story of Clare (Leslie) and Henry (James), and a marriage with a problem — time travel.
Clare is described as fiery, clever and unstoppable – and for most of her life she’s had an amazing secret. Since she was six years old Clare has had an imaginary friend: a kind and funny man, sometimes old, sometimes young, who appears in the woods behind her house and tells her tales of the future. Visits from the mysterious Henry are the bright spots in the tedium of her childhood. As the years pass, and she grows into a beautiful young woman, she starts to realise her friend is not imaginary – he’s a time traveler, visiting from the future.

Fans of vampires and werewolves who also happen to be Netflix subscribers have reason to celebrate. The streaming service has revealed that the original Underworld trilogy will be arriving on May 1 for subscribers. This doesn't include the entirety of the franchise, but it does include three horror/fantasy adventures with Kate Beckinsale's Selene to help pass the time while we all are stuck at home.

The Underworld movies achieved exactly what they set out to do: show Kate Beckinsale in a series of tight outfits blasting and kicking her way through hi-octane action sequences. They were never likely to please critics but dammit, if you wanted to sit in a theater and watch a pretty lady shoot monsters, they were your best bet.
Debuted in 2003, the franchise proved to have long legs, racking up five entries (and an animated movie) over the next 14 years, closing out with Underworld: Blood Wars in 2017. And now the whole bloody collection is coming to Netflix for your streaming pleasure in May. But could this be a hint that a sixth film might be on the cards?
Creator Len Wiseman hinted in 2017 that another sequel was in development and that they planned to continue the story of Beckinsale’s Selene. Sadly, plans for this stalled, partly due to Blood Wars...

History’s drama series “Knightfall” will return with its second season — which includes Mark Hamill — on Monday, March 25 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt, A + E Studios announced during the Television Critics Association press tour Sunday. But if you can’t wait that long to see Hamill trade in his lightsaber for a Medieval sword, you’re in luck, because History also dropped the Season 2 trailer.
The 2-minute, 16-second video teases Hamill’s debut as Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran and initiate master who is tasked with preparing the next generation of men to proudly wear the red cross on their chests and become “God’s Executioners.” Based on the trailer, it seems Talus oscillates between giving out sage advice, and punching people.
Hamill joins series star Tom Cullen (Sir Landry du Lauzon) — who he punches in the face in the clip above, by the way — for the eight-episode Season...
