A movie that moves you
Baz Lurhmann hit it out of the park and landed this film somewhere on the craters of the moon. Elvis's life was bigger than what could be edited down to 2 hours and 39 minutes but I defy any filmmaker to do better than this. Academy Award should be pending, though these days I think they're bought and paid for so they don't matter but he deserves one for what appears to be the sheer labor of taking his vision and translating it to the screen. And I'll be honest, I didn't know who Austin Butler was but if he doesn't get an Oscar for his performance, there is no justice. I watched this man transform into Elvis before my eyes, to the point where I believe he was channeling the energy of the King. An extraordinary movie for anyone who grew up during the era of Elvis and a history lesson for those too young to remember him. 10/10.
