A very real law series from the perspective of the defender

The series has no episodic story yet. Each episode is a new case.

I think the series is pretty good and very clear. For me, the series feels very real and you could believe this happened exactly like this in real life. And as "qui_j" in his review said, the series is sometimes slow-moving and has not a lot of action in it. But for me, it is more about realism than a typical action, drama law-series.

Overall this is a German law series and probably wouldn't make sense in all cases from a US law perspective.

Forget pre-existing expectations for a rise-series.

The series "Schuld" is not the usual "Krimi" story of "who did it?" It does help to know the stories on which the series is based on by Ferdinand von Schirack. The stories are absolutely magnetic through their sparse style and the tragedy they describe. Small and/or seemingly harmless steps of seemingly "normal"people in desperate moments lead to terrible consequences. The writer uses his experience as a defense attorney in these stories. It is necessary to involve yourself in the psychology of the characters and their social circumstances in order to understand these stories. In their view of human nature they are precious. I find the series magnetic as well.

Beautiful

As a response for reviews saying this series is slow, boring etc: this is a series made by smart people for smart people. Get your shootings and bleedings elsewhere.

The script is generally unbelievable intelligent, the ideas brilliant, and the acting is superb.

Unbelievably slow and boring with no real endings for the episodes

It's difficult to know who the intended audience for this type of series might be. The episodes are meant to be very "noir" and cerebral but are unbelievably slow moving, boring, and with no satisfactory ending. After each episode, the viewer is forced to ask, "What was that all about?" It is very Germanic in approach, simple ideas made to something that is unbelievably complex to fill the time slot for each episode. This is the type of series that one cannot "binge watch" but use more as fillers when there is nothing else to watch. Especially annoying is the cinematography that has objects mentioned in the dialog, falling through the frame of action. So, if the term "letter" is mentioned, one sees a letter falling like a snowflake through the movie frame.....all very distracting and disconcerting! Overall, this is a real "snoozefest" with each episode having 100 times the potency of a very strong sleeping pill!
