Just another version of Rebecca

This movie when I started out watching it, it reminded me of my favorite book Rebecca. It's an okay movie and it is not a horror movie it is geared towards a thriller. It has creepy characters including the librarian who reminded me of Mrs Danvers. It is a slow going movie. If you want to be freaked out...this is the movie for you. The story is tad creepy to begin with. The housekeeper Mrs. M who I thought reminded me of Mrs. Danvers for the first hour of the movie. But towards the end of the movie, is she real or is she a ghost? I leave it up to you. I kind of like the movie but what about cookbook that Eve wanted to make.

Why? Just why?

This is a bad remake of "Rebecca" with a couple of additional, expected twists. I'm embarrassed for the creative team who thought this classic story deserved a low budget remake. Fools.

Yes it's bad really really bad

I guess it's a remake of sorts for Rebecca, a spouses supposed classic that was silly, overacted, miscast, and boring.

Well if possible this was worst. This does have some established actors.

One star for the lead actress who at least tries to act. The rest of the known cast phoning it in. I've seen them do better.

The "actor" playing the husband is godawful. Zero vocal or facial expressions. Just wooden. Not even trying. A boiled potato could give a more nuanced performance playing mashed potatoes.

Spare me

The question is; where did they find a bunch of actors with so little talent?

Seriously, I'm not sure how the production crew could sit through the rushes and consider the day's work was satisfactory.

The Asian playing Eve, can't be bothered even looking up her name, should be consigned to obscurity forever and why the heck cast an Asian anyway? Is this part of the new Hollywood quota system? Maybe.

Either way, it want really horror and the story made little sense. Can't understand the ending but in fairness I was so bored, I probably missed it. Sorry but this is a real turkey.

Avoid at all costs.

I actually like it

Saw this on tv last night, didn't know what to expect, but I actually liked it. The plot was predictable and it moved at a slow pace, but in the end, it was a worthwhile movie.

Finally, it finished

Sat a few minutes with my fingers on my computer's keyboad trying to decide how to refer to this move. I settled for convoluted in a bad way. When I was growing up 3/4 of a century ago, just about every movie was from the British Isles and asides from a few comedies, they were all about some haunted manor, with the main character being one of three possibilites, actor wise. I was a fan even as a young child. I think this mess was trying to recreate those movies, but in the US. How I miss those three actors! Lets just say, I hated this attempt. The only good actor was the cute dog at the start.

Not great but has Tammy Blanchard in it!

It is an ok movie. Slow. Predictable.

But it gets an 8 for having Tammy Blanchard in it. As usual, Tammy steals every scene she is in. What an underrated talent!

Beautiful setting and scenery

"The Inherited" (2015) offers an intriguing blend of psychological horror and mystery that keeps you engaged throughout its runtime. The film's atmosphere is its strongest asset, with the old mansion setting creating a sense of unease that builds as the story unfolds. The plot is well-constructed, with enough twists and turns to maintain interest, even if some moments feel a bit predictable.

The lead performances are solid, particularly the main actress, who brings a believable vulnerability to her role. The supporting cast also contributes to the film's unsettling tone, though some characters could have been more fleshed out.

While "The Inherited" doesn't break new ground in the horror genre, it's a decent watch for those who enjoy a slow-burn thriller. The film delivers a few genuine chills and a storyline that keeps you guessing, even if it doesn't fully capitalize on its potential. It's not a must-see, but it's worth a look for fans of atmospheric horror.
