When I first saw the bridge between amnesia and note taking, I thought it would be a structure similar to memory fragments. As a result, an ordinary science fiction film was presented. Subjects and entry points are too common to be gimmicky.
I went to see this movie with low expectations; Dutch movies are normally not really my favorite, there are no Dutch sci-fi movies that I know of and the 'police-state' plot is also not really my taste. Imagine my surprise when I watched this movie and was actually entertained from beginning to end!
The acting is very good, the dark atmosphere believable and the plot, though simple (or maybe because it's simple), keeps you at the edge of your seat at times. Plus I find it refreshing to see a science fiction movie without a million dollar budget for special effects; it leaves more for the story and characters and this movie has executed that very well. Not a blockbuster and I will probably not re-watch it, but I do recommend watching it to all sci-fi lovers out there :-)

Stylized REALITY. This was an astounding adventure. It took me a while to warm to it. I thought it was some millennium-angst type movie. But then it became more. And then more. It really should be seen by many more people who feel the claustrophobic terror of our information- age-cum-invaded-lives. Very few aspects were ultimately derivative or predictable. But these come after spending much time trying to understand what is going on. I am not a hacker-geek or any such thing, so there may be some things which others might scoff at such as computer language inaccuracies or any such dribble that has nothing to do with a good story, well told.
Irrespective of that, just realize this really is about a dystopian society and it is fiction and it was so well made.
Recommended.

Not often here, but this movie is complete underrated. Not really a science fiction as usual, but nearly skipped it, because of low rating here. Didn't regret to give this movie a chance. The story isn't obviously, it comes more like a puzzle with completed slowly by showing different times of memories by the main character. I was surprised that german money flow in this dutch production, because moviefoundations in germany support a lot of crap, just my opinion. People who like to go deeper, ask questions for himself, perhaps heard something of mk ultra & stuff like that, will have a solid maked movie, would give smthng between 7 - 8, but think this movie needs a little push in rating. Thanks for other commentarys which maked me curious to watch it.
Only chanced upon this movie so had no expectations and always ignore IMDb ratings. The high rating is given for the credible performance by Matthijs as Sam who shone in every scene.
The storyline is not dissimilar to many where the opening scenes depict the lead actor waking up with no memory but it is was well told.
It appeared predictable to me as I watch a lot of sci-fi genre movies and could see almost instantly from the opening scenes where the storyline and eventual ending was headed.
I'll watch out for Matthijs as a potential lead who could easily make the transition to a big budget movie but can't say the same for any of the other wooden performances.

- GoofsAt around 53 mins, the main character sits at a table in the dining room, seen from the back but obviously with a plate in front of him. 2 minutes later, when another man seats himself opposite him, the table is clear.
