Exclusive: Game of Thrones star Ben Crompton is directing a ballet retelling of the Snow White story for global arts streamer Marquee TV.

Crompton will oversee Snow White: The Sacrifice, which T.S. Elliott Prize-winning poet Carol Anne Duffy has adapted as what Marquee is calling a “captivating, savage ballet,” and W1A and Mistresses actress Sarah Parsh is narrating. Crompton’s wife, Liv Lorent, whose BalletLorent is producing, is overseeing the choreography, with Murray Gold composing the music.

They have collectively teamed to transform the Snow White fairytale into a “bloody, cautionary tale for our image-obsessed age.” It will land on Marquee TV on September 1.

Exclusive: John Morton’s British sitcom series that has satirized the 2012 Olympics and the inner workings of the BBC is heading Stateside for a fictional soccer tournament.

The BBC has officially greenlit Twenty Twenty Six, with Hugh Bonneville reprising his iconic role as Ian Fletcher from previous shows Twenty Twelve and W1A.

Sarah Parish, who played Anna Rampton in the original comedy series W1A, has revealed on That Gaby Roslin Podcast that a spin-off show based on the FIFA international football association. was in the works. She also revealed that W1A co-star Hugh Bonneville would be reprising his role.

Though Parish said the show was being written according to the British Comedy Guide, she said she would not be in it, but that she suspected Hynes would return. There has been no official confirmation from the BBC, but it would fit with the previous series precedent of writing a comedy about a real forthcoming event, in this case the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

Will Sharpe, who endeared himself to audiences on “The White Lotus,” is directing a feature film adaptation of Michelle Zauner’s 2021 memoir “Crying in H Mart.”

Zauner’s novel centers around her relationship with her Korean heritage and her mother, who died from cancer in 2014. Best known as the frontwoman for indie-pop band Japanese Breakfast, Zauner is adapting the screenplay and will also play a part in the film’s music.

“Bridgerton” leading man Jonathan Bailey has signed on for a lead role in the Showtime limited series “Fellow Travelers,” Variety has learned.

The critically acclaimed French comedy series, set at a Parisian talent agency, now has had a British remake set at an agency in the heart of London’s Soho. Called “Ten Percent” (an English translation of “Call My Agent!’s” original name “Dix Pour Cent”), the original became a hit for the way it explored the often-fractious relationship between agent and talent, a relationship that can have a skyrocketing ego on one side and expectation management and endless anxiety on the other. It also received acclaim for featuring cameos by celebrities from Isabelle Huppert to Sigourney Weaver, who appeared to relish the opportunity to gently mock themselves. French comedy “Call My Agent!” was a domestic hit after it launched on France’s TF1 network in 2015 but it wasn’t until later, when it got picked up by Netflix, that the series about a fictional Parisian talent agency found a global audience.

Christian Baute, whose company Headline Pictures has produced a U.K. version of the series alongside Bron Studios (“Joker”) for Amazon and Sundance Now, spotted the show’s potential during its original broadcast. “I thought, this is brilliant,” he recalls.

The Tully studio will produce the series with Man In The High Castle producer Headline Pictures, which acquired the English-language rights back in 2017. At the time Veep writer Georgia Pritchett was attached to write.

The series, which was created by Fanny Herrero, takes place at a Parisian talent agency where agents scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat after the sudden death of their founder. It aired on France 2 with Netflix showing it globally.

The Office casting director Rachel Freck is also on board. John Morton will set the adaptation at a London talent agency and it will start production in June 2020.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are to produce a sitcom for the BBC starring British comedian Sara Pascoe.

The pair’s Stolen Picture banner, which is backed by Sony Pictures Television is behind the untitled six-part series for BBC Two. It is their latest TV commission since forming the production company, after Deadline revealed that they are adapting Ben Aaronovitch’s fantasy drama Rivers of London.

Pascoe, a well known stand up who starred in BBC comedy W1A, is co-producing the series, which is about family, relationships and biology. She subverts the traditional sitcom format by combining her eccentric characters, surreal moments and factual insight. Pascoe doesn’t know why everyone else in the world is pairing up and having babies and sets out on a mission to understand them. She tries to prove that romantic love is mere chemicals and conditioning and doesn’t deserve our respect. This conflicts...

Alongside the first look images from the Alan McGee bio-pic ‘Creation Stories’ being released comes the rounding out the cast including Jason Isaacs.

Other actors joining the cast include comedian Ed Byrne as well as Paul Kaye (It’s All Gone Pete Tong), Perry Benson (You Rang M’Lord?), Thomas Turgoose (This is England), Steven Berkoff (Octopussy), Rufus Jones (W1A) and Mel Raido (Legend). They join previously confirmed castmates Ewen Bremner and Suki Waterhouse. Leo Flanagan has been confirmed to play young Alan McGee in his feature film debut.

Directed by Nick Moran and written by Irvine Welsh and exec produced by Danny Boyle, the feature film of the life of Alan McGee – the adaptation of his highly acclaimed autobiography ‘Creation Stories – Riots, Raves and Running a Record Label’.

Alan McGee biopic Creation Stories has added cast including Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), comedian Ed Byrne, Paul Kaye (It’s All Gone Pete Tong), Perry Benson (You Rang M’Lord?), Thomas Turgoose (This is England), Steven Berkoff (Octopussy), Rufus Jones (W1A) and Mel Raido (Legend).

Already set to star in the music film executive-produced by Danny Boyle are Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting) as McGee (the first image from production is above) and Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation). Newcomer Leo Flanagan (Hanna), in his feature debut, has been confirmed to play young McGee.

Creation Stories, which has been long in the works, is based on UK music industry exec Alan McGee’s autobiography, The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves And Running A Label, about the highs and lows of running label Creation Records, famous for putting out hits by the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream and Oasis.

Kim Cattrall has pulled out of British comedy series The Cockfields due to “unforeseen scheduling issues”. The Sex and The City star, who is fronting Fox’s soapy drama Filthy Rich, had been due to star in the three-part series for UKTV’s Gold channel alongside After Life stars Joe Wilkinson and Diane Morgan.

She has been replaced by Sarah Parish, who recently appeared in ITV drama Bancroft and BBC comedy W1A as well as previous stints on Doctor Who and Atlantis.

The series, which is written by Joe Wilkinson and David Ear, also stars The Royale Family’s Sue Johnston, Chariots of Fire’s Nigel Havers and Not Going Out’s Bobby Ball. It is produced by Yellow Door Productions, the production company set up by former Sky comedy chief Lucy Lumsden.

Projects from Riz Ahmed, David Harewood and The Fall creator Allan Cubitt lead an ambitious line-up of new commissions from BBC Two. The British public broadcaster has unveiled a huge slate of shows for its second channel ranging from high-end dramas and comedies through to documentary series.

In drama, it has ordered Englistan, created by The Night Of star Riz Ahmed. The nine-part series, which is produced by BBC Studios Drama London and Ahmed’s own Left Handed Films, is the story of three generations of a British Pakistani families as they pursue their dreams over four tumultuous decades, navigating shifting circumstances and evolving loyalties. The drama will re-frame recent British history, and shine a light on the forces that have remade British society what it is today. It will be exec produced by Ahmed, Esther Springer, Hilary Salmon and Lucy Richer.

Series one and two of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith's consistently inventive, continually surprising anthology strand Inside No. 9 have recently landed on Netflix UK, which will hopefully bring it to the attention of those who didn't catch it on the first run. Series 3 of Broadchurch will start on Monday the 27th of Feburary on ITV in the UK.

Comedian, actor, writer, campaigner and knight bachelor Sir Lenny Henry has joined the ensemble cast of ITV's Broadchurch series three in an as-yet-undisclosed role. Don't expect it to be a comic part though, given the series' "serious sexual assault" storyline.

Sky1 is diving into a world of adventure with a new Indiana Jones-style drama series.

Michael Landes and Ophelia Lovibond will play the title roles in Hooten & The Lady - an international caper from writer Tony Jordan.

Lovibond is Lady Alexandra Lindo-Parker of the British Museum, who teams with adventurer Hooten - played by Landes.

Together, the pair track down fabled treasures from the past, including the lost Amazonian golden city of Z, the Buddha's missing scroll and the lost tomb of Alexander the Great.

"Humour, action, adventure and Tony Jordan - where do I sign up?" said Landes. The star of Final Destination 2 - and the original Jimmy Olsen on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman - described the project as "an opportunity of a lifetime".

W1A actress Lovibond added: "I've never played a full-on action role like The Lady before, so I'm really looking forward...

Helena Bonham Carter will lead the cast of BBC One's new drama from About a Boy author Nick Hornby.

The author's adaptation of Nina Stibbe's book Love Nina will take Hollywood star Bonham Carter back to 1980s London in a story about family and friendship.

Love Nina is a fictionalised take on Stibbe's letters home to her sister after the young nanny moves away from Leicester.

Talking about his first TV drama, Hornby said: "Nina Stibbe's book Love Nina has already established itself as a much-loved piece of comic writing and I love it.

"Her observations and worldview were the inspiration for a show that we think captures the same spirit. It's been a joy to write and we're thrilled with the quality of our cast."

The series will be directed by Jessica Jones' Sj Clarkson, who previously worked with Carter in Toast.

Clare Balding's new Wimbledon highlights show has been met with largely negative reviews since it debuted on Monday (June 29).

Wimbledon 2Day has been criticised by tennis fans on Twitter, while Radio Times called it "a mess, a giddy mix of inane tweets, snippets of matches (let's not forget actual tennis is being played, something, presumably we all want to see, which is why we've tuned in) and a bit of chat."

Much of the criticism has been levelled at the name of the show, and the fact that it's replaced tennis highlights with The One Show-style chat, home videos from viewers and tweets.

The show replaced the long-running Today at Wimbledon series which presented highlights of the day's action for those who may have missed the live matches while at work.

Its second show on Tuesday (June 30) appeared to be slightly tweaked to show more tennis, but viewers were still not best pleased.

Reece Shearsmith has been cast in BBC Two's Stag.

The Inside No. 9 star will be joined by W1A's Rufus Jones and My Mad Fat Diary's Sharon Rooney for the dark comedy thriller.

Jj Feild, James Cosmo, Tim Key and Amit Shah have been confirmed as well.

The three-parter from Jim Field Smith stars Peep Show actor Jim Howick as a meek schoolteacher who struggles to survive the stag weekend from hell.

While on a deer-stalking expedition in the Scottish Highlands, the hunting party realises they themselves are the prey while sordid secrets begin to emerge.

Smith said: "I can't believe this fantastic roster of talent is joining us for seven weeks of hell in the Highlands, and can only assume they haven't read the scripts properly."

Stephen Campbell Moore, Pilou Asbaek and Christiaan van Vuuren will also appear in Stag.

Jason Watkins has applauded ITV for having the courage to tackle The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.

The actor played Jefferies in the true-life drama, about a retired schoolteacher vilified by the press after being falsely accused of murder.

Watkins told Digital Spy that ITV deserved credit for airing a piece of drama that was "not necessarily mainstream" in a primetime slot.

Are overnight ratings all they're cracked up to be? Toast of London star Matt Berry reckons not.

The actor told press including Digital Spy that his sitcom would never have survived if its success were judged solely on overnights.

"It isn't as strong an argument as it used to be, because people watch in their own time," Berry said backstage at last night's (May 10) House of Fraser BAFTA Television Awards.

"That works in our favour - because if Toast were brought back [based] on ratings, it would never be brought back. Hardly anyone watches it, on the night."

Berry was awarded the trophy for best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme last night, beating W1A's Hugh Bonneville, Rev's Tom Hollander and Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll.
