This was a pilot for an ABC TV series that wasn't picked up. Adapted from the Turkish TV series Son (2012), it was produced by 20th Century Fox Television/ABC Studios, written by Michael Cooney (6 Souls) and directed by Michael Offer (who directed the How to Get Away with Murder pilot.)
If the show had been picked up, it would have been Paula Patton's first-ever TV series as a regular.
Paula Patton's casting came after an extensive search, which occurred over the course of two pilot seasons and on two separate networks. Fox originally developed the series and sent offers out to Christina Applegate, Katie Holmes, Mireille Enos and Jessica Biel, but the show ended up stalling until ABC handed it a pilot order. But then they passed on turning it into a series.
