John tells Louis that there are farms as far as the eye can see near his grandmother's house in Farmington, New Mexico. When he arrives, there are indeed, lush farms. Farmington is in the desert and there are few, if any, farms.
Louis rides a train to Farmington and then walks to his grandmother's house. There are no trains anywhere near Farmington.
