The 2020s has been another great decade for horror thus far. Especially if you're the streaming service Shudder. The genre-centric streamer has used the theatrical model to its advantage, with films like Clown in a Cornfield doing well at the box office last month. However, one of their best gems to date was Late Night With the Devil. The 2024 throwback found footage nightmare starring David Dastmalchian (The Boogeyman) was a spooky critical and box office hit. Now, this Late Night show gone wrong is getting a new 4K release.
In the form of a haunting 4Ksteelbook, the latest release of the film features chilling new artwork. Volume #19 of Chainsaw Man has just been released in Japan, and with it, new artwork and an author comment from the series' artist, Tatsuki Fujimoto. The eccentric mangaka behind Fire Punch and the universally acclaimed one-shots, Look Back and Goodbye, Eri, begins each volume of Chainsaw Man by sharing a recommendation or simply something he enjoys. And this time, it is the critically acclaimed 2024 horror film, Late Night with the Devil.
Late Night with the Devil was initially shown in 2023 at the South by Southwest film festival, before finally releasing in March 2024 to theaters. The film follows a fictional 1970s late-night talk show host named Jack Delroy, who experiences supernatural phenomena during the filming of his show, Night Owls. If there is one thing Tatsuki Fujimoto isn't shy about, it's his love for movies, and Late Night with the Devil, now available to stream on Hulu, is far from the first the author has recommended.

Legendary drive-in critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs will be welcoming two guests during this year’s special Halloween presentation of his Shudder series The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs, a special that’s called Joe Bob’s Beelzebub Bash – and now that the identities of both of those guests have been revealed, we have a good idea of which movies are going to be shown as well. Last week, we learned that one of the guests will be director Jeff Lieberman – and given that this is a Halloween special with a devilish theme, it’s likely that Lieberman will be there to discuss his 2004 film Satan’s Little Helper. Now, Joe Bob himself has revealed that the second guest is actor David Dastmalchian… and it’s highly probable that the movie Dastmalchian will be there to discuss is Late Night With the Devil, especially since that was a Shudder release.

Boston Rob Mariano may have cost his game on Deal Or No Deal Island. He has been a fan-favorite the entire season and viewers are ready to stop watching if he gets sent home. Well, that could be the case. Boston Rob potentially ruined his game in the first part of the finale. This is not what he had planned, and he got this far. A simple mistake could have ruined it all.
Boston Rob Mariano Fights For Final Case
Boston Rob has been fighting for his life during this season of the show. The “Night Owls” have been against him from the beginning. This is more than likely due to his history on Survivor. However, Rob is loved by fans which in turn makes people not like anyone in the “Night Owls”. Aron Barbell was Rob Mariano’s right-hand man before he made a bad deal with the banker and was sent home.

Late Night With the Devil is 2024's highest-rated horror film, blending documentary techniques with chilling storytelling. The movie follows host Jack Delroy as he crafts an occult-themed episode, paying homage to classic British horror mockumentaries. Ghostwatch, a 1992 TV horror movie, serves as inspiration for Late Night With the Devil's inventive setup and terrifying storytelling.
Using documentary filmmaking techniques to serve up chills and thrills, Late Night With the Devil is 2024's highest-rated horror film so far though it certainly recalls a classic British horror mockumentary that made waves back in 1992. Starring David Dastmalchian as Jack Delroy, the host of the fictional Night Owls with Jack Delroy late-night talk show, the movie chronicles the events that unfold during the 1977 Halloween night episode of the show. In order to boost the talk show's ratings, Delroy decides to craft an occult-themed episode.
Late Night With the Devil feels fresh thanks to its inventive setup.

This week’s Deal or No Deal Island competition has whittled the number of contestants from thirteen to five.
Nick Grasso was eliminated in a fierce battle between him and Boston Rob Mariano, resulting in Nick taking the deal from the banker.
Nick leaving the game with $4,417,000 meant Rob stayed another week, and the Night Owls declared that everyone was playing Rob’s game.
Boston Rob Mariano is a reality competition show expert, having been on Survivor and The Amazing Race multiple times, and is the one to beat in the game.
As reported by Monsters and Critics, fans are upset that the so-called Night Owls target Rob and his friend Aron Barbell so fiercely in the game.
But now, some fans speculate that maybe the show is being rigged to favor Rob because so many fans have declared they won’t watch it if he is eliminated.

David Dastmalchian was raised in a religious household where “everything was ‘the Devil’s work’” and he was constantly told not to open myself up to anything evil that could come in. “Fast-forward to me as a grown-up and I’m telling my wife not to order a cursed Ouija board off the Internet,” the actor notes. He’s also hosted seances, been published in “Fangoria,” penned the graphic novel series “Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter” for Dark Horse Comics and served as the brand ambassador for a line of caskets.
And, of course, starred in the hottest horror movie of the year as the lead in “Late Night With the Devil.” The indie feature from brothers Cameron and Colin Cairns was released by IFC in theaters, where it’s already made a robust $10 million. And as of today, it’s available to stream on the horror network Shudder.

The 1970s– an era of “unrest and mistrust, fear and violence,” says the opening minutes of Colin and Cameron Cairnes’ Late Night with the Devil, accurately reflecting the viewpoint of the burgeoning moral panic of the time. Fear mongering-ish as that sounds, after a decade of Christianity in crisis mode– including a 1966 Times cover asking, “Is God Dead?”– and the “Satanic” cult murders by the Manson Family in 1969, the ’70s were a time of peak (at least until then) obsession with all things occult, planting the seeds and ultimately leading to what would be known as the full-blown Satanic Panic in the decade to follow. The devil was believed to be real, and he was to be feared, expelled, and/or worshiped– in real life and reflected in dozens and dozens of horror films and countless categories of other media within that era.

As the horror movie genre continues to evolve, it's a Golden Age for exorcism and demonic possession movies again. While The Exorcist: Believer didn't hit the mark, movies like The Pope's Exorcist, Evil Dead Rise and Insidious: Red Door helped keep the momentum going. It seems that even The First Omen is going to continue the trend of demon-centric movies.

A live television broadcast goes horribly wrong in this formidably creepy found footage horror, written and directed by Australian brothers Cameron and Colin Cairnes. Anchored by a terrific lead turn from perennial character actor David Dastmalchian, it’s a cult movie waiting to happen.
Taking a page from British TV’s classic Ghostwatch, but adding a period setting, Late Night With the Devil purports to be the master tapes of a disastrous live TV recording from Halloween 1977, in which a guest on the talk show Night Owls with Jack Delroy (Dastmalchian) attempted to commune with the Devil, live on air, in a bid to gain ratings during Sweeps Week.

Late Night with the Devil is the most fun that I have had with a horror film in a hot minute. It really finds that space in the Venn diagram that encompasses popcorn horror, clever writing, and an innovative story. I love discovering movies like this. I would file Deadstream, The House of the Devil and Saint Maud on the same shelf. Not because they are similar in premise or tone, but more because of the experience I had watching them. It’s so fun to go into an indie horror film and discover something new. A story that hasn’t been told that isn’t part of a bigger franchise. I love higher budget, more mainstream horror, but it’s films like this that give us more of an opportunity to experience something unexpected. I love that.

After watching our exclusive clip for Late Night with the Devil, you can’t say you haven’t been warned of the indescribable horror that awaits viewers when the film conjures itself into theaters on March 22. With a hint of both intrigue and terror, David Dastmalchian’s talk show host, Jack Delroy, directly addresses his live studio audience and the folks at home, sharing with both how the guests on tonight’s taping of the fictional Night Owls with Jack Delroy ended up on the couch next to him. The TV personality reveals that he’s been stuck thinking about a book that landed on his desk one month earlier titled, “Conversations with the Devil,” in which a parapsychologist named Dr. June Ross-Mitchell (Laura Gordon) writes about her time working with a young woman thought to be possessed by Satan. Teeing up a clip from Dr. Ross-Mitchell’s research center...

Late Night With the Devil, the latest film from Cameron and Colin Cairnes, the team who made 100 Bloody Acres and Scare Campaign, opens with scenes of violence caught in the lens of the TV camera. As we watch, Michael Ironside tells us about America in the 1970s, and then segues into the career of radio man turned late night TV host Jack Delroy.
His show, the syndicated Night Owls, has run a close second to Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show, but never managed to catch up to it in the ratings wars. And since the death of Jack’s wife Madeline his life and his ratings, seem to be in free fall. With sweeps week kicking off on Halloween Eve and his career on the line,...

The Devil has always thrived in chaos, and so there’s no better or more natural place for him to appear than on live TV. That goes double for the live TV of the early ’70s, when an “anything goes” attitude ruled the airwaves, the horrors of the Vietnam War beamed into a hundred million American homes every night, and the devotional trust that people still placed in news anchors and talk show hosts was starting to grow poisoned by the cynical pursuit for higher ratings.
In that light, it was only going to be a matter of time before “Night Owls with Jack Delroy” turned into hell on earth, especially after Jack’s non-smoker of a wife died of terminal lung cancer and the widowed host became more determined than ever to catch up with Johnny Carson. Jack would make any sacrifice necessary to win his midnight time slot,...

"Late Night with the Devil" is one of the best horror movies you'll see this year — a clever, effective, and most of all scary mockumentary that recreates the era of '70s late-night talk shows with a nightmarish twist. What if a "Tonight Show" clone suddenly succumbed to demonic possession — live on the air? "Late Night with the Devil" has the answer, suggesting that a little hellfire can be good for ratings.
Written and directed by Colin Cairnes and Cameron Cairnes, "Late Night with the Devil" introduces us to Jack Delroy (played by a very committed David Dastmalchian), a wannabe Johnny Carson who hosts "Night Owls with Jack Delroy," a New York City-based late night variety and talk show struggling to stay afloat in the late-night ratings wars. It's Halloween night, and Jack has a special show planned, in which two of his guests are a parapsychologist (Laura Gordon) and her patient,...

By taking the tricks and tropes associated with films about occult goings-on and applies them in the context of a 1970s talk show, Australian writer-directors Cameron and Colin Cairnes have conjured up a horror flick that’s devilishly fun. Late Night with the Devil sets the scene with a montage, authoritatively narrated by Michael Ironside. Day after day, news programs report on the Watergate scandal, the Manson family, and other offenses as if on loop. Perhaps that’s why there’s such an appetite for the likes of Johnny Carson—well-groomed, quick-witted men who who almost nightly offer a sense of order and familiarity to an increasingly anxious populous, a feeling that maybe things will be alright after all.

Ahead of the acclaimed horror flick’s arrival later this month, check out the full-length trailer for Late Night With The Devil.
There are plenty of reasons why we’re fully on board for the upcoming horror flick, Late Night With The Devil.
It has a retro 1970s feel that looks incredible. It also has the wonderful David Dastmalchian (who often appears in smaller but memorable roles) getting a leading role. Then there’s the festival buzz which has been very strong indeed. Oh, and there’s also the fact that horror hasn’t really found its feet yet here in 2024.
Whilst it wasn’t terrible, Night Swim didn’t have anywhere near the same impact that Blumhouse’s traditional year-opening horror has in the past, and we feel like we’re waiting for the first truly rousing chiller of the year to get the cinematic scares up and running.

Late Night with the Devil and The Cleansing Hour both feature broadcasts taken over by supernatural beings. The films share common themes but are set in different time periods. The similarities between the movies make them an ideal double feature, highlighting timeless horror elements.
The upcoming horror film Late Night with the Devil shares some broad strokes and thematic elements with 2019's The Cleansing Hour, but the similarities make both movies even better. Written and directed by Colin and Cameron Cairnes, Late Night with the Devil focuses on Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian), the host of late-night talk show Night Owls. Set in the 1970s, Delroy tries to combat falling ratings by bringing on a spooky panel of guests for a Halloween taping, including the potentially demonically possessed Lilly (Ingrid Torelli).

David Dastmalchian is thrilled by Stephen King's glowing review of Late Night with the Devil and is honored to have the author's endorsement. The indie horror movie has also received praise from high-profile creatives such as Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin.
