Thor: Love And Thunder charts a difficult course. A sequel which talks about the pain of revisiting past relationships, a story that tries to stand on its own but is the 29th film release in a cinematic universe, a tale that's about one character (twice) and the responsibilities of power, not just those of our personally-trained protagonists but of creators.
Rooted in the minutiae of actual and comicbook mythology and the comic sensibilities of writer/director Taika Waititi, that journey is is fraught. Jojo Rabbit's massive tonal shifts were in service of something intentionally shocking, leaving one hanging to leave one speechless. Here the tone veers between light entertainment and heavy Scandinavian drama, the (Lego-friendly) goat boat caught between Cilla and Cries And Whispers.
Waititi co-writes with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Her work includes works that draw from college campus conflicts, both internal and external, for MTV, HBOMax, and, soon, Netflix.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK deserves a massive round of applause for one of the most conducive episodes I have ever seen. If we ignore the mini-challenge in this episode; the runway, main challenge and judging panned were used perfectly in tandem to give a very well structure and thematic episode. The episode revolves around the idea of musicals, with the main challenge being to perform like in ‘Rats the Rusical’ which was an obvious parody of Cats (but more on that later) and the guest judge this week was Sheridan Smith who many will know as Smithy’s sister in Gavin and Stacey but it’s also a musical theatre icon who has played iconic roles such as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Elle in Legally Blonde or as Cilla Black in the TV musical movie Cilla. The runway was titled “Surprise, Surprise” which was also a reference...

Dionne Warwick said the pop star was to play the Liverpool favorite in a film – a claim Gaga denied. But just in case, here’s how to get the perfect accent
There were confusing scenes in Cannes on Friday when Dionne Warwick announced a biopic, then claimed that Lady Gaga was signed up to play her “musical nemesis” Cilla Black. “It was just an easy choice, and she wanted to do it,” Warwick said.
This seemed to come as news to Lady Gaga, whose team rapidly said she had never even heard of the film – although by the end of Friday Warwick was insisting that this was a case of crossed wires, and that she is in fact attached. But whatever happens, this film is being made and our Cilla is going to feature. The fact that somebody thought Gaga would be suitable makes it clear that this portrayal will...

Cilla Black was a hugely popular entertainer for over five decades, presenting some of the biggest variety shows and teaming up with the biggest stars.
As the country says goodbye to 'Our Cilla' today (August 20) at her funeral in Liverpool, we've chosen a bunch of hilarious and moving moments from her successful career.
1. Meeting a real-life Mr Bean on the real Blind Date
Blind Date was known for its wacky contestants looking for love, and you can't get much wackier than Geoff Carter. Despite wearing a ludicrous shellsuit and carrying a Sooty puppet, he managed to win a date to the Seychelles. Suffice to say, they didn't get married.
2. Owning an undercover journalist on Blind Date
Cilla had her major comeback with Blind Date, a show which had so many memorable moments. One of the most controversial was when Cilla publicly outed a Cosmopolitan journalist who posed as a contestant,...

Philomena, Mrs Biggs, The Widower and most recently Cilla - Jeff Pope has made a career out of plowing real-life stories to produce drama on both the big and small screen; and it's paid off, with the writer winning two BAFTAs and an Academy Award.
His latest accolade is a BAFTA TV Special Award - an honour presented in recognition of an outstanding creative contribution to television, with previous recipients including TV exec Jane Tranter, director Paul Greengrass and dramatist Alan Clarke.
Pope started his career in journalism - working as a reporter and researcher - and says the skills he learned have kept him "in good stead" throughout his career as a screenwriter.

Less than a month after actor Nick Frost signed on to reprise his Snow White and the Huntsman dwarf role Nion in Universal Pictures' sequel The Huntsman, Rob Brydon, Alexandra Roach and Sheridan Smith have signed on to play three new dwarfs. We reported in January that the sequel will only feature two dwarfs, but it seems Universal has reconsidered that stance. No details were given regarding these new characters, but this is the first time female dwarfs are being introduced into the fairy tale storyline.
In Snow White and the Huntsman, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Ian McShane, Johnny Harris, Ray Winstone and Brian Gleeson played the seven dwarfs. Our report from January revealed that Toby Jones could not come to terms with the studio to reprise his role, while Eddie Marsan had scheduling complications with the Showtime series Ray Donovan. Wall to Wall to make Woman in Red for BBC2.
The scandal surrounding 18th century aristocrat Lady Seymour Worsley is to be turned into a one-off docu-drama produced by Wall to Wall for BBC2.
Woman in Red follows Sienna Miller-fronted The Girl, which explored the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren, and was the last large scale factual drama produced by the Warner Bros-owned indie.
The screenplay, penned by David Eldridge, tells the story of Lady Seymour Worsley, who left her husband and eloped with his best friend.
Lady Worseley, played by Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games), subsequently becomes the subject of a high-profile court case brought against her by her shamed husband, played by Cilla star Aneurin Barnard.
The 90-minute drama is based on Hallie Rubenhold’s book Lady Worsley’s Whim, originally inspired by a painting of Lady Worsley which hangs in a stately home in Yorkshire.
