This is why so many people pay for Netflix. A totally shambolic, virtually unwatchable series. Does nobody at itv have a clue at the moment? The Channel is putting out some very poor content at the moment. True Crime is its latest documentary series. Gaudy graphics, endless cutaways and random, talking heads popping up, saying a few sentences, then vanishing for more of the same. My partner and I have endured a couple of episodes, but can't endure any more. Netflix does this so much better, compare this to the recent OJ series. What's so annoying, is that the stories are all very interesting, unfortunately the presentation style is such a turn off.
Experts and witnesses give an in-depth analysis on five different murders.
I think the other review could possibly be based solely on the first episode, which in all fairness was pretty shocking, the series does get a bit better as it progresses.
They were guilty of adding in too much post production, at times there's so much happening, so many cutaways, that you're left feeling totally distracted.
Those interviewed give honesty, fairly balanced opinions, nobody felt too political, or too opinionated, reasonable I thought. It may have been a bit better if they'd spent more time interviewing fewer guests, rather than having so many.
The stories are all engaging, some you may know quite well, others may be new to you, I had definitely heard of the horrendous case of Shafilea Ahmed.
7/10.
