Everyone likes street magic - A guy walks up to unsuspecting strangers and performs magic to shock & awe them with magic. That's what this show purports to be, but unfortunately fails pretty miserably at.
It's fun to try and figure out how Troy performs his tricks - and there are some great tricks on this show - but it's rather obvious that almost everyone, if not the entire spread of people Troy interacts with, are hired actors.
I'm not saying that everyone is told to react a certain way, etc., but what I do believe happens in this show is that a group of actors and/or models are hand selected, told that a magician is going to interact with them, and to "try and act like a normal unsuspecting person." This limited information explains how trusting people seem to be with Troy, their constrained reactions when the average person would be outraged or even perhaps resort to physical violence after the stuff Troy pulls, and the fact that every woman he interacts with is moderately attractive at worst to drop dead gorgeous at best, and always happen to be wearing full makeup, even if Troy catches them at the gym. Unfortunately I have not been convinced that a single person Troy has interacted with on the show has not had some sort of head's up that they are going to be filmed for a TV show, despite the "HIDDEN CAMERA" claims the show makes.
Another dead giveaway as to this fact is that the camera could not possibly get the shots they get for unsuspecting people. "We are walking around a graveyard at night and there just happens to be someone following us with a video camera for no particular reason?" Yeah, right.
Troy also has unseen people to help him with his tricks. Unfortunately, there are a massive amount of tricks that are easy to figure out if you realize that Troy has people helping him. People sitting next to him at a table to secretly swap an item, or someone feeding Troy information through a secret microphone (or vice versa) make some of his magic tricks not so magical. Lots of magicians rely on this in their shows, but it's not what I would expect for a "street magic" show.
Troy obviously has some skill, but I would much rather see a show limited to real unsuspecting people off the street with real reactions, such as questioning why there is a camera filming them, getting actually angry when Troy breaks their things, and don't look like they were hired by a modeling agency. If you can get past all these things, then the show is enjoyable. Otherwise, you are left sorely disappointed.
