Production Begins On Dirty Dozen Style Action-Thriller The Base
Yesterday, distributor XLrator Media and production company Benattar/Thomas Productions announced the start of principal photography on a new action-thriller titled The Base. The new film stars Cam Gigandet (The Magnificent Seven, Twilight) and is being directed by military veteran Jesse Gustafson (Day 39). Cam Gigandet is leading a group of military prisoners who have to fight off a terrorist attack, as he begins principal photography on the action movie, ‘The Base.’ The drama’s production companies, XLrator Media and Benattar/Thomas Productions, have announced the launch of shooting on the thriller. XLrator's New Actioner The Base Starts Production
XLrator Media and Benattar/Thomas Productions have begun production on a new action-thriller called The Base, starring Cam Gigandet (The Magnificent Seven, Twilight) and directed by Jesse Gustafson (Day 39).

XLrator Media will release the film worldwide in 2017 as part of its “Turbo” action label.

Student Academy Awards Finalists
On the heels of last Wednesday’s announcement in The Hollywood Reporter’s annual film school rankings that Chapman University (where I am currently teaching) remains steady at #7, the Academy announced the finalists for the Student Academy Awards.

Chapman has three films that were selected.

Typically nominees in the Animation category are from the top animation schools such as Cal Arts and this year’s success suggests Chapman is joining those ranks.
