Very Beautifully Done

Set in the Okanagan in B. C. this film takes you through different wildfires in the early 2020's and shows not only the destruction but also the beauty and regeneration of the land while educating the viewer on current and traditional indigenous ways and means of handling the growing mega-wildfire planet we currently reside on. Showing not only the human impact, but also those of tame and wild animals gives a different perspective than we often see in the news. This is currently being screened in local communities, but would be great to see this screened at local and global film festivals as it speaks to our current epidemic of fires globally.

Beautiful cinematography and sound design

Incandescence is a visually stunning film that draws the viewer into the world of the people affected by-and fighting-massive forest fires in the Okanagan region of Canada. Beautifully shot with evocative sound design, the film helps us understand what it's like for those who lived through devastating forest fires in the age of warming climate. At the same time, the filmmakers normalize fire by showing how the Indigenous people of the area use fire to help reduce larger fires. You'll be touched at how animals in the region persevere. The beaver scenes are a treat. Do yourself a favour and watch Incandescence. Soon to be available on the National Film Board site and in select theatres.

Very Powerful

It was a very moving and complex film that provided us with an intimate look at the horrifying impacts of climate chaos. Using spectacular footage and the voices of firefighters and victims combined with the sounds of fire, this documentary is both artistic and educational. There is drone footage, scenes of burning structures, and wildlife up close. We see people's lives before during and after a firestorm destroyed everything they owned. As a wildfire survivor, I know how terrifying fires are and believe everyone needs to see this film to become more aware of the threat facing most people who live in rural communities and even in some cities. The directors deserve accolades for this powerful film.

BC Okanagan Fire Season Raw & Unwrapped

This film tracks the life and effects of wildfire from every perspective with moving stories, spectacular cinematography and the best sound editing I've ever experienced.

This documentary tracks the infamous season of wildland fires in British Columbia's Okanagan region, including the West Kelowna fire, ftom the multiple perspectives of the front line fire fighters, rescuers, evacuees, domestic and wild animals all affected by the fires. It then returns to follow their recovery in the aftermath. Beware, there be heroes there.

You will learn, you will be awed and you will be entertained by this magnificent movie.
