Getting a little too drunk at the company Christmas Party, and waking up the following morning, naked, in an office with a stranger was not exactly in CEO Daphne Morgan's (Emily Gateley) plans, but the man she spent the night with is not the janitor she thinks he is, rather he is Ashton Cunningham, the CEO of a multibillion dollar toy company on an employee swap program. After breaking off the her engagement to Caleb (Dan Robbins), much to the chagrin of her father, Edward (Robert Carter) and the annoyance of her step-mother and step sister, Daphne makes the quick decision to marry Ashton to ensure that the company will go to her, officially on Christmas Day. Following the death of her mother at Christmas, he family stopped celebrating the holiday season, forcing their employees to work overtime and not allowing for any time off, however, with a little help from Ashton, a contract marriage, a bit of romance, and a dash of Christmas magic, everything changes this holiday season. Despite the efforts of her family and Caleb, Daphne finds out that Christmas isn't so bad after all.
Emily Gateley as Daphne Morgan is great in this role, her strong-willed character all while trying to protect her heart, her mothers legacy, and deal with her awful family (and ex!). Emily shines in all her roles and it was great to see her in a role where she could be a fun, serious, sad, and enjoying the Christmas spirit. Also her Coyote Ugly moment has me laughing so hard my tummy hurt.
Kasey Esser as Ashton Cunningham is so fun in this series, we see a lot of Kasey in serious roles, so this was an excellent change of pace having him as a lead in a comedic role. Kasey definitely proved himself in this series to have such diverse skillset allowing him to assimilate into any role. I loved the way he could show the caring, stoic, businessman we have seen multiple times from him but also a more fun side of him. It is clear why he was nominated for lead actor in a comedy with this series.
This series follows a similar storyline to that of all the contract marriage to a secret billionaire CEO, but with a Christmas spin. It is a lot of fun and was one of my favourites released at Christmas time 2024! Congratulations to the production team and cast of this series!
