I was actually surprised by this movie. I thought it was going to feel like a low-budget movie and be filled with clichés. But it actually had some beautiful shots of the island and the supporting characters were pretty good. Mystic and the taxi driver and the taxi driver's wife were fairly good.
It was a little too obvious that the actor and the actress that played the main couple were more singers and not the most experienced actors but they still did fairly well. Gave a fair depiction of uptown and downtown and Kingston and Rural Jamaica. All in all a good date night movie where the nice guy and the nice girl end up together in the end.

This is a great movie, once you have seen it, it makes you feel like you would want to fall in love. If you are in love, you would fall in love all over again and if not you would really want to find your special someone. I felt great to be able to identify not only people but places I knew in the movie. I also enjoyed the music, the different scenes were great, it was breathe taking and the acting was good. I love the fact that it shows some realities of life for people from different backgrounds. It also shows the extent that some people would go to get what they want. as far as I am concerned it is also an educational movie as you can learn a thing or two from it to help in your life. You can identify with someone or something in the movie that is similar to your life. I would watch it over and over again. It is a must watch, a need to watch movie.
Destiny captured the beauty of Jamaica impeccably. That said, the story was mediocre at best. It was poorly edited, poorly plotted, poorly acted (with the exception of a few in the supporting cast), and poorly executed. The director seemed to have a fairly decent budget because the production quality was reasonable, despite this it somehow managed to be one of the least enjoyable Jamaican movies I have ever watched.
Save for a few comedic moments which spanned perhaps 1/10th or less of the movie, it had very little else going for it. I didn't care about the lead characters because they were deplorable actors who lacked a believable emotional range with a trite story-line. There were several inconsistencies in the plot as well which were glaring and eye- rolling inducing. Overall not worth the time spent watching at the cinema. While some of the patrons seemed to enjoy it this would have been better served as a small scale stage play (roots play as we call them), anything beyond that is overreaching.
