South Park Season 27 Wages Hilarious War On Two Very Different 2025 Menaces
Image
This episode contains spoilers for "South Park" season 27, episode 4, "Wok is Dead."

"South Park" season 27 is firing on all cylinders. After a few years away, the adult cartoon is back with one of its best seasons yet, and it's so far managed to capture a combination of relatively wholesome childhood fun, raunchy and vulgar humor, and biting satire all at the same time. Indeed, the new episodes of "South Park" continue to deliver some very timely commentary by going relentlessly after the twice-impeached convicted felon Donald Trump and his entire presidential administration. The show's latest episode, "Wok is Dead," even has Trump impregnating the Prince of Darkness himself, Satan, with a hellspawn.

Pokémon Tcg Scalpers Buy Out 42,000 Phantasmal Flames Sets Months Before Release
Image
The Phantasmal Flames expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game won't be available for purchase for another few months, but a group of scalpers has already managed to buy it out. Earlier today, the Mega Evolutions-centric set was announced to be coming to the West on November 14 this year.

Though the release date is still two months away, PokéBeach reports that a group of scalpers has managed to hack the Pokémon Center and trick it into selling them the packs early. Packs were apparently pre-loaded into the official website today, which has allowed the group to buy out the sets before they even officially appear in the store to the general public.

McDonald’s Dragon Ball Collab Summons Delicious Meals for Goku & Friends
Image
Dragon Ball Daima and McDonald's are teaming up once again for a brand-new collaboration that's sure to offer up scrumptious anime-inspired meals at great value. Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball is just one of many anime franchises McDonald's has partnered with in recent years, such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Pokémon.

McDonald's Malaysia has announced its upcoming anime collaboration with Dragon Ball, unveiling a mysterious image that teases the appearance of a "mini" hero. Of course, it doesn't take a Dragon Ball aficionado to realize the silhouetted character is none other than Goku -- Goku (Mini), to be precise, as this is based on his extremely youthful appearance in Dragon Ball Daima.

Pokémon Unite Shutting Down in Belgium and Netherlands November 30
Image
A lot of Pokémon fans' eyes are glued to Pokémon Go or awaiting more information about Pokémon Legends: Z-a, but some users are about to find Pokémon Unite completely inaccessible in their countries. The multiplayer Moba title (think similar to League of Legends) has had over 200 million downloads since July 2024, but the end of an era is coming for the game in two countries shortly.

Announced in the Pokémon Unite notification menu a year ago (and captured by Key-Anteater767 on Reddit), the game will cease operation in two countries soon. The reason for the removal was reportedly due to law changes in both countries regarding microtransactions in games.

One Of The Best Pokémon Stories We've Ever Seen Isn't A Real Movie, But It Should Be
Image
"Pokémon" movies all tend to have similar stories, mostly following a human trainer (frequently Ash) saving the world from someone evil, and then using his Pokémon to help save the day. Sure, there is some variation, and different movies touch on different genres: one's a kaiju movie, another is a Tarzan story, there's a detective story, and there are several movies about threats to the space-time continuum. But even the best "Pokémon" movies place their focus on the human rather than the Pokémon.

That's how the franchise is, and to paraphrase Pedro Pascal's Maxwell Lord in "Wonder Woman 1984," the franchise is good! But it can be better. The reason for this is simple,...

During the event, I was privileged to see a range of games, play some, and get presentations on others. Some were good, a few were exceptional, and a couple were even a little disappointing, but without a doubt, over the three days I was there playing,...

There was one that was good. It was called Untitled New York Thriller. It was the story of a cabbie down on his luck who picks up a hitman. It became Collateral. (Screenwriter) Stuart Beattie and I were on a panel recently and I told him. I found the coverage and sent it to him.

Could Gen Alpha Save Movie Theaters? New Survey Shows Why ‘Minecraft’ and ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Had Huge Success With Kids
Image
Kids and preteens may reinvigorate the theatrical movie business, at least according to a new study by entertainment researchers Nrg.

The report found that Gen Alpha, which consists of children born from roughly 2013 to 2025, is more interested in seeing movies in the big screen than older consumers. Roughly 59% of members of that generation said they enjoy watching movies in theaters more than at home, compared to 48% of Gen Z (people born between 1997 and 2012), 45% of Millennials (people born between 1981 and 1996) and Gen X (people born between 1965 and 1980). The study’s authors suggest that the ubiquity of smartphones and streaming services has made younger consumers more interested in a night out at the multiplex.

“Unlike Millennials and older Gen Z-ers, who can still remember a time when watching movies at home meant going through the hassle of buying or renting a DVD or VHS tape, Gen Alpha is growing up in a...

Pokémon Anime Was Rejected for U.S. Release Before 4Kids Production: 'It'll Never Work in America'
Image
In 1998, Japanese anime sensation Pokémon made its debut on U.S. airwaves thanks to North American anime distributor 4Kids Entertainment. However, according to Tokyopop founder and CEO Stu Levy, Pokémon was considered -- and ultimately rejected -- by another high-profile U.S.-based distributor.

TokyoPop (originally Mixx Entertainment) was the main publisher responsible for popularizing works such as Sailor Moon, Parasyte and Magic Knight Rayearth among North American readers. In a recent episode of 'The Anime Business,' Levy recounted how, during his company's early years, he also worked as a content advisor for Saban Entertainment, the group responsible for bringing the Super Sentai franchise to the U.S. as Power Rangers.

The original Pokémon games were heavily inspired by different franchises, most notably Ultraman. The Jurassic Park series was a clear inspiration for the Fossil Pokémon, especially Aerodactyl, as players needed to use Old Amber to revive it, similar to how dinosaurs were brought back using blood from insects trapped in amber in the movies. Developer beef just helped Roblox set a 47-million-player record
Image
Roblox-the-company might be in a rough spot right now, but the developers using its tools and platform to build and launch their own video games are reaching new virtual heights.

Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot are two of Roblox’s most popular games. One is a farm sim, and the other is a sort of thief’s paradise bootleg Pokémon, where players build hoards of pixel creatures, and can acquire new ones by stealing them from rivals’ bases. On any given day, they both tend to average around ~1 million concurrent players–a huge number.

But that number is nothing compared to the ones they hit this past weekend.

Pokémon Go's Eternatus Event Criticized As 'Worst Ever' By Fans
Image
Pokémon Go’s recent Max Finale event, which was centered around the introduction of Gigantamax Eternatus in the game, came under heavy criticism following its conclusion. The popular mobile game developed by Niantic, now under Scopely’s domain, is constantly receiving updates. Most recently, the company allowed players to catch Eternatus in Pokémon Go via a special event.

This special event, called Max Finale, however, was heavily criticized by a portion of its players. As seen in user 00BeardedSaiyan’s response to an official post on X, this is the “worst event ever.” The user calls it a “rip off” and, like a few other players, cites that it’s...

The leveling cap will be raised from 50 to 80, and the Xp required for each level will be adjusted, meaning that every player's level is likely to change. Image
For almost 40 years, Japanese voice actor Masako Nozawa has provided the voice for Goku and several other characters in the Dragon Ball anime series. Now, she is taking on a brand-new voice role in an upcoming work titled Majo Gami.

In a recent interview with Game Spark, Nozawa announced that she would be taking on the role of the narrator in Inti Creates' new 2D action-adventure title. The game features a striking visual design inspired by Japanese paper craft, which Nozawa playfully describes as resembling a "picture-book show" for children. Pokémon Meets Found Footage Horror in Official Promo for ‘Pokémon Legends: Z-a’
Pokémon (1997)
I’ve been a Pokémon fan since the Game Boy days of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. So, believe me when I say I have wanted to see the cute creatures crossover with horror for a very long time.

Yesterday, the Official Pokémon YouTube channel dropped a promo for the upcoming Nintendo Switch video game, Pokémon Legends: Z-a, and brought my wish to fruition.

In the promo, a pair of curious citizens decides to investigate a decrepit building after hearing that it gives off a strange scent at night. They encounter puddles of purple goop that give flashbacks to the Grimace shake TikTok trend, a creepy Jigglypuff doll watching them, and encounter one out-of-control Mega Victreebell (making its debut in Legends: Z-a).

If found footage horror meets Pokémon wasn’t enough, the promo is actually pretty eerie. So much so that the video comes with a warning label that it...
