This morning British actors Holliday Grainger and Micheal Ward announced the list of nominations for the 2020 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) which sees Rose Glass’s psychological horror lead the pack with 17 nominations.

‘Saint Maud’ will be taking on Remi Weekes’ ‘His House’, which has 16 nominations across the Director, Screenplay, debut and technical categories. Weekes’ powerful debut also received nominations in Best Actress and Best Actor for Wunmi Mosaku and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù.

‘Rocks’, Sarah Gavron and Anu Henrique’s fresh, poignant and genuinely uplifting take on life as a marginalised British teen has 15 nominations, including double nominations for stars Bukky Bakray and Kosar Ali in Best Actress and Supporting Actress and Most Promising Newcomer. D’angleou Osei Kissiedu is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

The Flash Actor Logan Williams Dies Suddenly, Cause Of Death Unknown
Some very sad news hit the Arrowverse community this week, as it’s being reported that teen actor Logan Williams passed away suddenly on April 3rd.

Perhaps best known for portraying a younger Barry Allen on The Flash, he was 16 years old when he died. No cause of death has been revealed just yet, but Williams’ mother spoke out about her son’s passing and said she’s “absolutely devastated” by it.

“I am not able to hug my parents who lost their only grandchild,” she added. “With his talent and gorgeous looks, Logan had the potential to be a huge star.”

Grant Gustin, meanwhile, who stars as the older version of Barry on The Flash, paid tribute to Logan in a touching Instagram post, writing the following:

“Just hearing the devastating news that Logan Williams has passed away suddenly. I was so impressed by not only Logan’s talent but his professionalism on set.

A week flooded with terrible news continues as it's been reported that the young, talented actor Logan Williams has sadly passed away. A teenage television actor, Williams is perhaps best known for starring as the young Barry Allen in the CW series The Flash. Although no cause of death has yet been revealed, Williams is said to have died suddenly on Thursday. Only days away from his 17th birthday, Williams was just 16 years old.

Marlyse Williams, Logan's mother, tells The Tri-City News she's "absolutely devastated" by his passing. "I am not able to hug my parents who lost their only grandchild," Marlyse adds, noting she's been left to mourn the loss alone due to the recent physical distancing restrictions. This Malaysian movie won four awards at the 7th Macau International Movie Festival in 2015, including Best Actor for Ti Lung and Best Newcomer for Tan Qin Lin. It is a charming, feel-good drama focusing on family values, colliding of culture and communications breakdown between both young and old. After it was released locally, it received two more awards at the 28th Malaysia Film Festival in 2016.

The story is about 12 year old girl Sarah (Tan Qin Lin) from New York who has to live with her grandfather (Shaw Brothers veteran Ti Lung) in Kuala Lumpur, because of her mother’s work commitment in China. Bloom announced today that Academy Award Nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Alien: Covenant, Steve Jobs) will star in David Sandberg's action-comedy Kung Fury, which Sandberg will also star in and produce under his Laser Unicorns' banner, alongside Fassbender. Boom to launch international sales at Efm.

Michael Fassbender will star in action-comedy Kung Fury, which Bloom will introduce to international buyers at the Efm this week.

David Sandberg will direct, produce through his Laser Unicorns label, and star alongside Fassbender and David Hasselhoff, who appeared in the original short film Kung Fury.

The short, about a 1985 Miami cop who travels back in time to thwart Adolf Hitler, was funded by Kickstarter, went viral, and played in Cannes Directors Fortnight in 2015.

The feature is being set up as a sequel and is scheduled to begin shooting this summer. Endeavor Content and CAA handle North American sales.

It producer David Katzenberg, executive producer Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt will produce through their KatzSmith Productions label, alongside Philip Westgren of B-Reel Films, and Conor McCaughan, and Fassbender. Pelle Strandberg is executive producer on behalf of Laser Unicorns.

Diane Kruger and her Troy co-star Eric Bana are in negotiations to headline spy thriller The Operative, a red-hot package that Bloom will introduce to buyers at the Efm in Berlin next week.

Israeli wunderkind Yuval Adler will make his English-language feature directorial debut and broke out with 2013 Venice Days Fedeora Award winner Bethlehem.

Teddy Schwarzman’s Black Bear Pictures is financing The Operative and will serve as executive producer. We're one step closer to seeing the latest movie from Darren Lynn Bousman, the filmmaker behind three of the most twisted entries in the Saw franchise (as well as the horror-themed musicals Repo! Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures have moved back Insidious: Chapter 4 from October 20 to January 5, 2018.

The film takes the place of the previously announced Untitled Blumhouse Horror Project. Universal’s Half To Death from Blumhouse will now open on October 20 this year.

Universal handles North American distribution on Insidious: Chapter 4 while Sony handles international.

Franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell wrote the screenplay and Lin Shaye stars as a parapsychologist who experiences a haunting in her family home. Newcomer Adam Robitel directs.

World premiere of Us spy thriller to open independent film festival.

Raindance Film Festival (Sept 23 - Oct 4) has unveiled the programme for its 23rd edition, with 90 features and nearly 200 short from 48 countries set to screen at London’s Vue Piccadilly.

The festival will open with the world premiere of Us spy thriller, Newcomer, starring Screen Star of Tomorrow James Floyd (My Brother The Devil) and Anthony Lapaglia, directed by Kai Barry.

Raindance’s international programme this year includes the world premiere of Rickie Lee Jones: The Other Side of Desire, a portrait of the poet-musician and rock star; the UK premiere of Mexican film Alice in Marialand, starring new Bond girl Stephanie Sigman; and new titles from upcoming British filmmaking talent.

On paper the shooting schedule sounded logistically daunting: 20 days for a feature film starring Anthony Lapaglia, Justine Clarke, Julia Blake and John Clarke.

As it turned out, filming comedic drama A Month of Sundays in Adelaide proved relatively easy, much to the surprise of writer-director Matthew Saville.

.Thanks to the cast, crew and logistic simplicity of shooting in Adelaide, it all went very smoothly,. Saville tells If during a break from the editing suite.

Produced by Madman Production Company.s Nick Batzias and Kirsty Stark, the film stars Lapaglia as Frank Mollard, a real estate agent whose life takes an unexpected turn when he receives a call from his dead mother, sending him on a journey of redemption.

IFC Midnight has announced the acquisition of Dark Summer, with plans to release the movie in North America early next year:

“IFC Midnight has acquired North American distribution rights to Content Media’s supernatural horror film Dark Summer.

IFC Midnight plans to release the film on all platforms January 9th, 2015.

A highly stylized modern ghost story, Dark Summer follows Daniel Williamson, a 17 year old on house arrest for the summer. With his mother away on business, a horrifying incident occurs, followed by an even more terrifying presence in the house, and twists that will leave audiences reeling.

Exclusive: The company has reported a strong response following Toronto to its sci-fi thriller starring Caity Lotz, Brandon Routh, Dane Cook and Ben Feldman.

Deals have closed with Splendid Film in Germany, Benelux and Scandinavia, New Select in Japan and Transmission Films in Australia/New Zealand.

Content screened first footage in Toronto to the thriller from New Artists Alliance and North American distributor XLrator Media.

Matt Osterman directs from his screenplay about four astronauts who agree to take part in a simulated mission that may not be all that it seems.

Gabriel Cowan and John Suits of New Artists Alliance produce 400 Days, which is in post-production.
