Children's TV can be easy nostalgia bait for adults reminiscing about the joyful days of childhood. Many children's shows appeal to kids and adults, creating lasting enjoyment for each generation, but some shows aren't so positively reflected upon. Whether harboring an overwhelmingly childish aesthetic, annoying characters, or a particularly juvenile sense of humor, some shows are unlikely to be liked by parents watching with their kids.
Many of these shows have problematic connotations, whether due to outdated storylines or behind-the-scenes drama. There are bound to be a few episodes, especially from older shows that may not have aged well, but some shows consistently portray topics and themes with poor execution, leaving an impact on their legacy and their audience.
Breadwinners Was Canceled After Two Seasons Many Wonder What Happened to This Hyper-Energetic Show
This short-lived Nickelodeon cartoon follows two ducks, SwaySway and Buhdeuce hailing from a duck-populated planet, Pondgea as they deliver bread to customers.

Paramount+ is known for hosting some of the best TV shows on any streaming platform, and in January 2025, the lineup remains just as strong as ever. The first month of 2025 sees the arrival of the original Matlock TV series as it joins the new Kathy Bates reboot. This classic courtroom drama, starring Andy Griffith, includes all nine seasons. Sci-fi fans get a treat in January, as the new Star Trek series Section 31 premieres on January 24. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
The biggest news coming in December was that Paramount+ is removing several TV shows from its streaming service. This isn't anything new since both Paramount and Showtime removed several shows last year. The streaming service axed several Nickelodeon shows, including Doug, Blue's Room, Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Penguins of Madagascar, Big Time Rush, and Breadwinners (via Us Weekly). Paramount+’s latest purge of content is ruining childhoods, as a substantial number of Nickelodeon shows have or will soon be removed from the platform. While many have become used to discovering old titles such as Doug, Big Time Rush, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and The Penguins of Madagascar on Paramount+, the decision to remove these and more titles has left many feeling like their ability to relive their childhoods in a nostalgic moment is being abruptly taken away.
Other affected shows include Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Wonder Pets, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Sanjay & Craig, and Welcome to the Wayne, with the removals drawing a strong reaction from people who grew up with some of these programs. The streamer is doing a little housekeeping ahead of the new year, to the chagrin of kids and nostalgic adults.
Paramount has decided not to wait until spring to get a little spring cleaning done. Specifically, the company has undertaken a new round of content removals from its streamer Paramount+, and like previous culls this batch of pulled titles is heavily affecting kids and families. It’s all in the name of lowering backend streaming costs, but that’s of little comfort to customers who might be seeing their favorite titles removed.
Key Details: Arguably the most well-known title removed from Paramount+ is the 1990s cartoon “Doug.” Movies from the “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” franchise have also been pulled. Paramount+ could see more content removals as its parent company continues a merger with Skydance Media. 7-Day Free Trial $7.99+ / month paramountplus.com

The thing I love about voice actors is that even if you don’t know their names or faces, you will “know that voice.” And considering voice actor Eric Bauza was responsible for one of my favorite scenes in the voice actor documentary I Know That Voice, I’m super glad that I not only know that voice, but got to interview it (and the man behind it!) at this year’s New York Comic Con.
Eric, who hails from Canada and began his animation career as a character designer who also did animatics, is now most known for the legacy voice of Marvin the Martian from The Looney Tunes Show and for a myriad of other great voices, including Tiger Claw on the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, Foop on The Fairly OddParents, Belly Bag on Uncle Grandpa, Buhdeuce on Breadwinners, Amadeus Cho on Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher,...

Exclusive: There’s going to be more Breadwinners flyin’ around on Nickelodeon. The cable network said today it will be bringing the animated series about a duck duo and their rocket van delivery service back for a second season with a 20-episode order. “The popularity and success of Breadwinners is a testament to our commitment to creator-driven animation,” said Nickelodeon’s Russell Hicks, President, Content Development and Production. “We’re thrilled to bring our audience another season of this great show as part of our continued pledge to building our pipeline of original animation.” Nickelodeon picked up the show from animator from Gary “Doodles” Diraffaele and former Mad and Teen Titans Go! writer Steve Borst last February. Discovered in Nickelodeon’s 2012 Animated Shorts Program, the first season of 20-episodes starting airing in February of this year on Saturdays.

On Nickelodeon's new animated series Breadwinners, best friends SwaySway and Buhdeuce are ducks that deliver loaves of unusual bread out of their Rocket Van. Creators Steve Borst and Gary "Doodles" Di Raffaele (Mad) came up with the idea behind the carb-loving waterfowl as part of the kids network's new Animation Shorts Program, created to incubate new creator-generated cartoons that could then be turned into series. Nickelodeon liked what it saw and fast-tracked 20 episodes of Breadwinners, which premieres Monday, Feb. 17 at 7:30/6:30c. (The show then moves to Saturdays at 11 a.m./10c starting Feb. 22.) Borst and Raffaele answered our showrunner survey to explain why Breadwinners is the greatest thing since sliced... well, you know.
