I was really looking forward to Moon Wolf's Real Alpha because of the talented cast. TJ Wilk and Lindsay Shiner usually bring so much depth and charisma, and there were so many other familiar vertical faces that I love to watch.
Unfortunately, the script and production didn't give them much to work with. The scene transitions were jarring-one minute we're in a bedroom, then suddenly a yard, and then 17 years later in another bedroom, with no real explanation of what happened in between.
But what really took me out of it was the sound mixing. It was genuinely rough-at times it sounded like the actors were 15 feet from the mic, and then the music would come blaring in way too loud. It made it hard to follow or get invested in the story.
Despite the cast doing their best, I had to give this a 5 out of 10-and that's me being generous because I know how good they all are. Hoping they get stronger material to work with next time!
