Twa-Tiu-Tiann

"Festival on the South Street"( 1930), a famous Taiwanese painting by Koeh Soat-ou( 1908-2012).

"Accordion"( 1935) by Chen Jin( 1907-1998), an outstanding Taiwanese female artist. The girl playing the accordion was the artist's sister and the glamorous image is seen as one of the finest portraits of Taiwanese women. The painting perfectly demonstrates the confidence and sophistication of Taiwanese women in the early 20th century.

Japanese people working or living in the colonial Taiwan weren't allowed to smoke opium at all, but there was a huge profit to be made from opium sales for the colonial government, so they allowed the locals to go on smoking opium until the Taiwanese People's Party stood up against the policy.
