Exclusive: Weruche Opia has been cast in ABC’s one-hour drama pilot Rj Decker, joining the previously announced Scott Speedman. Rob Doherty created the series based on the 1987 novel Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen.
Rj Decker (Speedman), disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con, starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife, and a shadowy new benefactor, a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally… or his one-way ticket back to prison.
Opia will play Shay Bennett, the shrewd-if-unpredictable daughter of a very powerful, very corrupt state senator with ties to Rj’s past. If the pilot gets picked up to series, Opia is positioned for a series regular role.
Executive producers include Doherty, who wrote the pilot,...

Prime Video's decision to ax its fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, came as a rude shock to fans. And those disgruntled fans have been busy putting their money where their mouths are, quite literally. They've raised over $16,000 to support the series, which Prime Video claims was cancelled due to its hefty budget. Adding insult to injury is the fact that the streamer dumped the series only to pick up another fantasy title as a replacement. However, it appears some have begun to look elsewhere to fill the Rosamund Pike-shaped void in their hearts. Barely two weeks after the show's cancellation, another fantasy project starring Pike has been surging through Netflix's charts.
Soon after landing her breakthrough role as Bond girl Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day, Pike ventured into several epic adventures. Over the next decade, her rising star power made her a sought-after talent in Hollywood,...

TheJames Bond franchise is one of Hollywood's most celebrated franchises, and yet it hasn't come without its fair share of challenges and veiled criticism. One of the allegations that has been levelled is that of its objectification of women. Actress Rosamund Pike has opened up about an uncomfortable moment in her early career, an audition for a James Bond film that left a lasting impression, not because of glamour or prestige, but for all the wrong reasons.
In a recent sit-down with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Pike revisited the experience of auditioning for the role of Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day. Though she ultimately landed the role, it wasn’t without its challenges. According to Pike, a casting director asked her to “stand there in your underwear,” telling her to “unzip and drop” her dress as part of the audition. She recounts that as a then 21-year-old finding her footing in the industry,...

Elon Musk, who seems to consider himself a comedian, has opined that “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely.”
So it seemed reasonable to ask Grok, the artificial-intelligence chatbot from Musk’s xAI startup that last month became public to all users on X (née Twitter): Who would be the most hilarious actor to portray Elon Musk in your opinion?
The answer from Grok: Sacha Baron Cohen, the British comedic actor known for “Borat,” “Brüno” and his Ali G rude-boy character. One reason, according to the AI bot, is the surprise factor: Casting Baron Cohen “would be unexpected in a way that would generate buzz. Fans might not see it coming, and the contrast between Cohen’s usual characters and Musk’s tech mogul persona could provide a comedic goldmine,” Grok said.
Last year came news that a biopic of Musk, to be directed by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky...

Sacha Baron Cohen did some physical comedy on the set of Ladies First!
Last week, the 53-year-old actor filmed alongside co-star Rosamund Pike for the scene, which took place in London, England.
According to THR, Ladies First “follows a womanizer who gets a shock when he is suddenly living in a world dominated by women, with an opinionated female counterpart adding to the complications.”
It is a remake of the 2018 French film Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile, which translates to I Am Not an Easy Man.
