Coyotes: Justin Long, Kate Bosworth survival thriller gets an October release
Justin Long
Real-life couple Justin Long and Kate Bosworth are on a streak of making genre movies together. They co-starred in writer/director Neil Labute’s 2022 horror comedy House of Darkness, then Bosworth did a vocal cameo to speak with Long’s character in writer/director Zach Cregger’s Barbarian, and now they share the screen again in the survival thriller Coyotes (which was announced last year under the title Coyote). The Hollywood Reporter hears that Coyotes will have its premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 20, with a theatrical release, courtesy of Aura Entertainment, following on October 3rd.

John Cena and Kevin Hart Teaming Up for Netflix Adaptation of Popular Graphic Novel
Image
Kevin Hart has a new acting partner: John Cena. Both actors have experience in the action genre, and have just scored their second project together at Netflix.

The duo is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel series The Leading Man, Deadline reports. The comic book series comes from Jeremy Haun and B. Clay Moore, and was published in 2006. Netflix's upcoming adaptation comes after The Leading Man spent several years in development hell at Universal Pictures.

The upcoming action comedy The Leading Man has writers Jon and Erich Hoeber penning the script, who just sold the pitch to Netflix. This will be their follow-up project with the streamer after the sale of their original script Fast and Loose. The action comedy is set to star Will Smith, and is looking for a new director after Michael Bay exited the project recently.

The Leading Man is in early development,...

“We Just Killed a Project”: James Gunn Breaks His Silence on Colin Farrell’s Cancelled Dcu Project
Image
Superman is right around the corner, but James Gunn has finally broken his silence on the first project canceled during his tenure at DC. One of the first projects announced as part of the Gods and Monsters slate was Sgt. Rock, and it was even reported that Daniel Craig was attached to star. Not long after Gunn personally confirmed Craig was not attached to the film, it was reported that The Penguin star Colin Farrell would take on the lead role in Sgt. Rock. Luca Guadagnino was going to direct, but it was announced in April that the film had been canceled. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone to talk about Superman and the wider Dcu, Gunn was asked what happened to Sgt. Rock that led to things falling through:

"We just killed a project. Everybody wanted to make the movie. It was greenlit, ready to go. The screenplay wasn’t ready.

Call it a corporate shake-up or call it karma, but David Zaslav’s latest headache, the rumored Warner Bros. split, feels like divine payback for a sin cartoon lovers still haven’t forgiven. When HBO Max yanked the original Looney Tunes shorts from its library, fans cried foul. These weren’t just cartoons; they were history.

Now, with the studio facing internal chaos and strategic whiplash, many see the writing on the wall. Zaslav may have thought he was just cleaning house, but it’s looking more like the house is cleaning him back.
