Buying Naked (2013)

Buying Naked

This Stripped-Down TLC Real Estate Show Caused Major Controversy
Image
Buying Naked, a reality television series that aired on TLC back in 2013, focused on real estate transactions within nudist communities and followed realtor Jackie Youngblood and her team as she assisted clients in purchasing homes in clothing-optional neighborhoods. The show was primarily filmed in Pasco County, Florida, which is also known as the nudist capital of North America. While the show's premise respected the nudist communities and initially kicked off with two pilot episodes before being ordered for the complete first installment of eight episodes, the hiccup in its format was that it ended up focusing a bit more on the sensationalism and novelty of nudity instead of strictly zeroing in on their actual lifestyles.

The Craziest Reality TV Show Premises We Can’t Believe Exist - Main Image

While reality TV can deliver some of the most entertaining and unique experiences for its viewers, it has also created some of the craziest premises that we can't believe made it on air.

We've seen some reality shows push the boundaries of this form of entertainment to varying results ranging from surprise success to outright flop. Let's explore some of the craziest premises that reality TV has tackled below.

I Wanna Marry "Harry"

The short-lived Fox reality series I Wanna Marry "Harry" follows 12 American women who were led to believe that they are competing for the affection of Prince Harry (who was single at that time).

However, little did they know, the "Prince Harry" is actually a bachelor lookalike named Matthew Hicks. While the idea of Harry doing this reality show is unrealistic, the producers somehow...

Meet The Season 4 Couples Of I Love A Mama's Boy
Image
TLC has a history of airing some of the most bizarre reality TV programs. Viewers have watched pimples being popped by Dr. Sandra Lee on Pimple Popper, couples buying homes completely in the nude on Buying Naked, and one of TLC's most controversial series to date, My Strange Addiction, featured individuals revealing their odd behaviors.

Another show that might be controversial to some viewers is I Love A Mama's Boy. For three seasons, fans watched as grown men were inseparable from their moms in every aspect of their lives. Although being a "mama's boy" isn't necessarily a bad thing, the men in the show had their personal relationships tested and even ruined because of their overbearing moms constantly interfering in their day-to-day lives.

This September, TLC is airing Season 4, and it is certain to bring way more mama drama. Meet the four new couples introduced this season, as well as...

These 8 Reality Shows Ended After One Season
Image
Reality TV shows come in various genres, like dating, competition, and bizarre, but not all find success, like Survivor or Love Island. Some reality shows like The Hasselhoffs and Flip It Forward were axed early due to poor viewership or controversies before airing. Shows like I Wanna Marry Harry and Buying Naked failed to captivate audiences, proving not all reality TV concepts are hits.

There seems to be an infinite number of reality TV shows nowadays. There are dating reality shows like The Bachelor and Love Island, competition reality shows like Survivor and RuPaul's Drag Race, and bizarre reality shows like Married At First Sight and Toddler and Tiaras.

All of these shows have one thing in common: they have all surpassed one season. In fact, Survivor is nearing 50 seasons! That means, fans love watching these types of reality TV shows and will continue to keep watching. However, not every...
